Most people have never heard of the Skellig Islands found about 16 kilometres (10 miles) off the coast of southwest Ireland. But what a find and what an experience!! Skellig Michael, the larger island, was the home of Christian monks in the sixth century. They lived in beehive stone huts built near the top of the 600 steps that cling in places to the cliffs. Next door on Little Skellig Island is the ...
... which was quickly on my jeans, with my lack of balance- complete with fertility stone on the top - don't worry, i didn't even touch it!
We drove past the sleeping Giant, an island that, well, looks like someone lying down and it's kinda big! Then to the Kilmalkeder church, a ruined abbey, with celtic crosses and more Non stones that predate the written word like we found in Wales! We also saw a grave with a can of Guiness ...
... back to bed, and up and down all night -eventually going mad.
Lunch was spent by the beach, then off to the cliffs of moher - which are are spectular cliff series, similar to the cliffs found along the great ocean road. Truly a beautiful sight, although infested with little flies that kept on flying onto us (and up our noses, in our mouths etc.) The cliffs of Moher were used in the movie 'The Princess Bride' as the Cliffs of ...
... coming through, and a rainbow. It is the wierdest weather. How do people live in this fulltime. Back home when it rains we all feel like it gives us a good excuse to lay in bed all day and be lazy...imagine the lives we would live if we were fulltime residents in Ireland.
This trip is going to be a huge test for us girls...thereis going to be some serious trials and tribulations that we're going to come across and it'll be ...
... our driver and Jesse our horse. She was a local lass hadn't been outside of Ireland and had been doing this job for about 15 years, we talked a bit about Australia and said she should come out and visit us!
I thought the roads to Killarney were rough but these were very tight and thin to start off with.. with the locals speeding around behind you I was forever pulling over to let them go past. Anyone that ...

... those of the boys who had died the year before in a tragic car accident. We said a few words for all our close relatives especially John.
On the way back to the ferry we checked out the old family homestead. Sadly it has gone further downhill and is in need of a lot of care and attention – cows (and a few bulls) graze the paddocks and outbuildings now, turning what was once a family house and ...
... is better but since we had only one day we made the most of it. Out of anywhere we have been, this was probably the place with the most natural beauty because it has so much unspoiled and undeveloped land. The pictures barely due justice to how scenic it actually was. The next day we would head north towards County Clare and the Cliffs of Moher, just about the only place I can think of that could rival the Ring of Kerry's wilderness.
Kenmare, Ireland worldtraveller9... that is green (including the horse residue that lined the trail). Not much too exciting to write about, but a great day nonetheless. We arrived at our hotel in Kenmare, Sheen Falls Lodge and had an amazing view of the stream right by our room; www.sheenfallslodge.ie. Both restaurants at the hotel wouldnt allow jeans, so I knew I would prefer to eat somewhere else.
Kenmare, Ireland travelbee... a couple of times when I was going around my circles back in Killarney thats how we started becoming pals. My sprained ankle perfomance went off without a hitch, however I did have a sore leg the next day from limping around work for 8 hours. I did deserve an Oscar as people are still concerned about my ankle. They can stop now. Have a new roomate named Mae she used to work at the Inn but quit, but its nice to have someone who can relate. The ...
