Travel Blogs from Fort Mitchell
We are home now (midnight last night) from our grand, and I do mean GRAND Alaskan adventure. I'm sorry we didn't blog much while we were gone. When we weren't having a TON of fun, we were exhausted and sleeping or we didn't have Internet access! The weather was (unusual ...
... there is a fee which we found out was $75-$100 for international flights. Pretty steep! Well, I rearranged some things and put more in my carry on and left a pair of shoes behind. I got it down to 49 lbs. Gene and I decided to stop at McDonald's for a chocolate chip frappe and an m&m mcflurry at McDonald's. Even though Liuzhou has a McD's, we weren't sure if they have these 2 items so ...
Hello everyone, Gene and I are getting ready to embark on an exciting adventure in the city of Liuzhou, China. We will be teaching English to high school students at Liu Gao School. We will teach 2-3 classes a day, using keynote/powerpoint presentations. The objective is to engage students in conversational English. Since the presentations are about Cincinnati, Ohio and America the students ...
This time next week we'll be at the airport ready to begin our "Great Alaskan Adventure". We are packin', packin' and packin' & trying to figure out what to take on the land tour and what to take on the ship tour. But we are so excited we can hardly see straight! Be talkin' to you soon.

... is the headquarters for this industry giant. At least it is a graceful building that adds interest to the ball park experience. The park is situated on the shores of the Ohio river, with the stately Roebling Bridge carrying vehicle and foot traffic over to Kentucky on the opposite shore. According to our waiter! the Roebling Bridge, built in 1867, was the prototype and test bridge for the Brooklyn Bridge, ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Drawbridge Hotel Fort Mitchell
Room smelled like stagnant urine. Waited over an hour for a cheeseburger at Chaucer's and the waitress never even came over to explain what the hold-up was or to say 'sorry'. Finally, I located her and asked when I should expect my cheeseburger. Her response, and I quote, "Oh, it's gonna be a while". I told her to keep it. Went to the front desk to ask where the nearest vending machines were since I would have to Doritos and a Milky Way for dinner. They said, "I'm sorry, the vending machines are just down the hall....."
We stayed here last July to Visit Newport . We had a double room on the second floor over looking one of the outdoor pools . It was actually quite tranquil . The room had a back door and front door so it sort of felt like we had balcony .The rooms are like average hotel rooms but clean . I loved the fact they had a play area for the little kids and back that way there are more green trees back by the Garrison building . If it rains its good to know there is an indoor pool as well that you can enjoy .The coffee shop had a nice breakfast and it was about 10 minutes to the aquarium from there on the interstate. I got the aquarium package and got some meal tickets as well . I was quite pleased with the service . They have so many rooms that it was quiet because pretty much everyone is all spread out . If you like to walk around this hotel has plenty of space to do that. Can't wait to come back this July .
Wonderful place to stay!
Excellent! Wonderful place for families. Inclusive, you never have to leave the grounds if you chose not to, everything you need is right there, arcade, pools, salon, gift shop, flower shop, and 24-hour food. Best friend and godson from Georgia met my daughter and I there for a weekend getaway. Rooms were clean, maybe the motif was outdated but I can live with that as long as everything is clean! Door lock's battery died while we were at outside pool, cleaning lady who was on her way to lunch, gave me a towel to coverup with, then got a maintenance man to fix door. Within 10 minutes of being locked out of room I was back in. Entire staff was friendly and helpful! Booking again!
Could've been better
this place is just an average hotel. They try to portray it as being more than what it is. My t.v was turning on and off and my heat wasnt working but they got the maintenance in there in no more than 20 minutes after the complaint. The employees aren't the friendliest people, the jacuzzi had filthy water in it. Although they have decent package deals, I got the aquatic package and spent the day at the newport aquarium in cinn. ohio
all in all it was an okay trip, the drawbridge is nothing you want to do as a romantic weekend with a spouse. Believe Me!!! The rooms need to be updated badly. An update could do that place some justice.
If you just want to get away from home for a day, try the drawbride at your own risk!!!1
When I stayed there, their staff and service was extremely rude to us. Me and some friends decided to try to stay there for a relaxing getaway, which my father helped pay for. They kept on interagating us rudely, and threatend to both kick us out of the room AND charge my fathers card 3 hours after we checked in. What for? Just because were under 21. Even though my father ALREADY paied with his credit card and autorised us to stay there. If they wanted someone to sign, they should of did it when we checked in. Plus, my father already authorised us, which means they don't NEED a signiture. We later on called and debated this in a very kindly mannor. They accused as of LYING when we did not, and they were also rude to us then. I don't think it is fair in any way, especally since we were gonna be paying customors.
The kids loved it here
Stayed here with the family on a visit to the Newport Aquarium. Accomodations were nice. Indoor pool was lovely. Staff was friendly and helpful.
my wife wanted to suprise me for our 25 anniversy the pictures on the net looked plush little did we know it cost her 400.00 for a package deal for 2 nights . The room was an ordinary hotel room that had the extra bed removed & in its place they put in a chair, the windows overlooked the roof , but we did get an $ 8.00 bottle of champain & 2 bathrobes. The entertainment was suposed to be LIVE MUSIC & dancing but turned out to be a DJplaying 1950s & early 60s & a 10ft x 10ftdance floor The food at the gatehouse res. was over priced but the service was good, we had diarrhea all night , no kidding , it must have been something we ate their because we did not eat anyplace else that day.THE NEXT TIME WE WILL GO TO THE RED ROOF INN PS MY WIFE IS STILL CRYING
A day at the drawbridge
stranded with the airlines and arrived late in the day. Hotel seemed shaby but clean. The staff seemed like they hated to work there. The bellman seemed to almost be popping out of his ill fitting clothes as he was overweight and about to "get off'. Oh well at least the bed was comfy
