Historical Traveler Reviews Drawbridge Hotel Fort Mitchell
Room smelled like stagnant urine. Waited over an hour for a cheeseburger at Chaucer's and the waitress never even came over to explain what the hold-up was or to say 'sorry'. Finally, I located her and asked when I should expect my cheeseburger. Her response, and I quote, "Oh, it's gonna be a while". I told her to keep it. Went to the front desk to ask where the nearest vending machines were since I would have to Doritos and a Milky Way for dinner. They said, "I'm sorry, the vending machines are just down the hall....."
Nice Hotel for the money
We stayed here last July to Visit Newport . We had a double room on the second floor over looking one of the outdoor pools . It was actually quite tranquil . The room had a back door and front door so it sort of felt like we had balcony .The rooms are like average hotel rooms but clean . I loved the fact they had a play area for the little kids and back that way there are more green trees back by the Garrison building . If it rains its good to know there is an indoor pool as well that you can enjoy .The coffee shop had a nice breakfast and it was about 10 minutes to the aquarium from there on the interstate. I got the aquarium package and got some meal tickets as well . I was quite pleased with the service . They have so many rooms that it was quiet because pretty much everyone is all spread out . If you like to walk around this hotel has plenty of space to do that. Can't wait to come back this July .
Wonderful place to stay!
Excellent! Wonderful place for families. Inclusive, you never have to leave the grounds if you chose not to, everything you need is right there, arcade, pools, salon, gift shop, flower shop, and 24-hour food. Best friend and godson from Georgia met my daughter and I there for a weekend getaway. Rooms were clean, maybe the motif was outdated but I can live with that as long as everything is clean! Door lock's battery died while we were at outside pool, cleaning lady who was on her way to lunch, gave me a towel to coverup with, then got a maintenance man to fix door. Within 10 minutes of being locked out of room I was back in. Entire staff was friendly and helpful! Booking again!
Could've been better
this place is just an average hotel. They try to portray it as being more than what it is. My t.v was turning on and off and my heat wasnt working but they got the maintenance in there in no more than 20 minutes after the complaint. The employees aren't the friendliest people, the jacuzzi had filthy water in it. Although they have decent package deals, I got the aquatic package and spent the day at the newport aquarium in cinn. ohio
all in all it was an okay trip, the drawbridge is nothing you want to do as a romantic weekend with a spouse. Believe Me!!! The rooms need to be updated badly. An update could do that place some justice.
If you just want to get away from home for a day, try the drawbride at your own risk!!!1
When I stayed there, their staff and service was extremely rude to us. Me and some friends decided to try to stay there for a relaxing getaway, which my father helped pay for. They kept on interagating us rudely, and threatend to both kick us out of the room AND charge my fathers card 3 hours after we checked in. What for? Just because were under 21. Even though my father ALREADY paied with his credit card and autorised us to stay there. If they wanted someone to sign, they should of did it when we checked in. Plus, my father already authorised us, which means they don't NEED a signiture. We later on called and debated this in a very kindly mannor. They accused as of LYING when we did not, and they were also rude to us then. I don't think it is fair in any way, especally since we were gonna be paying customors.
If you have children, DO NOT STAY HERE! If you leave, they WILL KICK YOUR CHILDREN OUT OF YOUR ROOM, and you as well, and you will be CHARGED for it as well.
This place is extremely nice, but the staff and their bogus policys totally ruin this place. If you plan on having children stay here while you leave for even a few hours, I defently do not recommend this place unless your children want to stay in the lobby for a few hours with all your stuff. Untill they change their policy, I will NEVER come back to this hotel again.
The kids loved it here
Stayed here with the family on a visit to the Newport Aquarium. Accomodations were nice. Indoor pool was lovely. Staff was friendly and helpful.
my wife wanted to suprise me for our 25 anniversy the pictures on the net looked plush little did we know it cost her 400.00 for a package deal for 2 nights . The room was an ordinary hotel room that had the extra bed removed & in its place they put in a chair, the windows overlooked the roof , but we did get an $ 8.00 bottle of champain & 2 bathrobes. The entertainment was suposed to be LIVE MUSIC & dancing but turned out to be a DJplaying 1950s & early 60s & a 10ft x 10ftdance floor The food at the gatehouse res. was over priced but the service was good, we had diarrhea all night , no kidding , it must have been something we ate their because we did not eat anyplace else that day.THE NEXT TIME WE WILL GO TO THE RED ROOF INN PS MY WIFE IS STILL CRYING

A day at the drawbridge
stranded with the airlines and arrived late in the day. Hotel seemed shaby but clean. The staff seemed like they hated to work there. The bellman seemed to almost be popping out of his ill fitting clothes as he was overweight and about to "get off'. Oh well at least the bed was comfy

We stopped for the night in Cincinnati and unloaded the car to repackage and get ready for the big sale. The 127 yardsale starts this morning and it's raining. It's ok we have seen so much so far and had great weather. A little rain will not hurt ...
Our last full day in Ohio was a very full day. Laneshia wanted to visit three places today and I promised the kids a trip to the amusement park so we did it all (and got tired in the end).
First up a trip to the nearby Krohn Conservatory. Then a visit to a unique museum called the American Sign Museum where we learned a lot about the history of signs from the "goldleaf" glass signs of the early 1900s through the neon age of the 1940s ...
We have talked a lot this week about being open to whatever plans God has in store for us this week and really for the rest of our lives. We drove patiently and slowly through rain storms on Sunday. Monday we stepped out of our comfort zone right away to talk and listen to the stories of the families of some pretty sick kids. We also dealt with no power for monday and tuesday. We have reached out to people that we normally would not. ...
... Joe took his crew back to the St. Joseph home and had another fantastic day painting with the residents. Andy took the rest to bridge ministry were they talked with and played board games with the homeless. They also did a bible study with the group. Ill post tomorrow during our free day hopefully, about the missionaries from Brazil we met today and evening of salsa ...
... do night prayer together outside in the dark. What an amazing experience! We really were able to hit home what living in solidarity can be like. Having no power for a day or so is an inconvience for us but reality for so many living im poverty. Ill write more later but we are now on our way to have dinner with the sisters and they eat at 4:30 pm ...
