Jamaica, no problem!

... index there was a little steep, so as soon as the DJ arrived with his police siren sound effects and ruined the atmosphere we generally wandered elsewhere...

Jamaicans are without doubt the friendliest people we have met on this trip. So many times people just came up and shook your hands and just wanted to chat. There were never any hassles, we never felt threatened, and most conversations ended with them asking if we wanted a taxi, bangles ...

MOBAY - Don't miss this GEM of a resort!

... a water camera only and water shoes. What a riot, this would be such a fun activity for the group.

The evening entertainment, to my surprise and delight was the Steel Drum band the Silver Birds. AMAZING I SAY. There were also locals set up in the area between the main pool and the lobby (downstairs terrace area) with there goods to sell.

The grounds are immaculate. Focal point of this resort is the 18 hole Golf Course and the Sugar Mill pool &amp ...

Some great things never change!

... your having a good time, and even more important if you are not. I highly recommend that you do, it is what makes the difference between an Ok vacation and an exceptional one. That is one of the biggest benefits to staying at the smaller resorts like, is the level of service and personal interaction </a>with the staff. You won't get that at those larger resorts and even some of the big Sandals properties.

CIAO CARRY BEIN'- 'DYER MAKER, QUEUE BA, GUY ANNA

... this travel blog then it'll definitely continue on TravelPod at http://www.travelpod.com/members/hardie k where I'll eventually tell the stories of all my travel both past present and future, at least until I reach the official UN total of 192 countries. The Thailand-to-Timbuktu blog may revert to its earlier trial role as a world music mouthpiece for promotion and criticism. World music is a worthwhile cause that needs all the help it can get. Stay tuned.

... was when I thought there was a Seinfeld episode that I hadn't seen yet, but it was a false alarm. Jamaica of course is old news in travel and music circles, reggae music pretty much single-handedly spawning the world music industry after Bob Marley's death. Jamaica is now so dependent on tourism that I doubt they could do without it. This spawns a certain dependency, both economic and psychological. Though famous for its 'friendly ...

The end of my amazing Jamaican visit

... If you've never experienced the Jamaican scotch bonnet pepper and you like it HOT! go to your local grocery and buy one. Be ever so careful ~ the first bite will hurt you. The icecream was abit different but everyone in our group seemed to at least have a sample. The Elemis Spa is located just a 5 minute walk along the coast from the lobby area West. It has a very nice private pool to guest of the spa (no children allowed). The beautiful grounds are perfect ...

Jamaica - Spring Break 2003

... aquaduct ruins. We had a great time laying out on the beach, swimming and playing water volleyball. The resort had a lot of different swimming pools, waterslides & a lazy river. One memorable quote from the trip was "It smells like up dog. What's up dog? Not much dog. What's up with you?". Courtesy of Katy Holman. :)

Along the lines of FATE again.

... we ate we decided to hit the beach (only 3 steps away) for some tanning and swimming. We spent a good couple hours relaxing, having more drinks and swimming in the warm water. I came out for a break and went to order another drink when I saw Lincoln coming down the path from the restaurant. Awww it was so great to see him again. We got to hang out for a bit before he had to start work. Of course being in Negril I wanted to show Debbie the west end, the ...

'Jamaican' me feel like travelling again....

Sorry for the dreadful pun incorporated into the title of this section, but a trip to the Caribbean in January 2006 replaced the regular annual January ski fixture, and was yet another encounter with the American tourist, which was to be the last, for absolutely no reason other than ongoing commitments and diminished practicalities. I arrived on the island of Jamaica in poor shape due to a newly-broken collar bone, which I was ...
