Experimental archaeology is a key activity of the museum and in the early part of this century a full reconstruction of the vessel was commenced and in 2007, to test the seaworthiness of the vessel now named ‘Sea Stallion’ a journey from Roskilde up to Norway, across the North Sea to the Shetlands, down to the Orkneys and then down the Irish Sea to Dublin was undertaken, successfully.
