Vaxholm, Stockholm, Sweden maudrenee... officially the hottest men on the planet. Just arriving and getting here from the airport, I'm already wowed by the extreme attractiveness levels of these people. Guh! Now, to see if I can't nab me a cute Swede before I leave! I think I need a good souvenir to take home with me. Phew! Okay, it's off to bed now. Tomorrow I desperately need to do laundry and then, who knows? -Justen
Stockholm, Stockholm, Sweden justen... with almond mascarpone & yogurt with granola) chatted about the trip and made nicey nice with the crew. We have become seasoned travelers, so I brushed and flossed early, arranged my bags and put my duty free away in prep for landing. Stockholm reminds me of the Pacific Northwest. Lots of pines, lots of water and lots of sunshine... well, almost like the PNW. It is a beautiful day here. Bright fluffy clouds roll by ...
Stockholm, Stockholm, Sweden ohiolair... had a fantastic time in Skansen, with old houses from across Stockholm restored or replicated and Swedish wildlife (allegedly) housed in the far end of the park. We couldn't see half or them! We did see a red squirrell scampering up the road outside though and that was very exciting. We also had a surprisingly good time at the coin museum. Doesn't sound like it's got a lot of potential does it, but we found ...
Stockholm, Stockholm, Sweden monk-san... it first set sail. Built top heavy with great haste, a small breeze was all that was needed to send it to the bottom of the harbour. 333 years later, in 1961, it was raised and later put in the museum for all to see. It was a truly magnificent spectacle, unlike any I'd ever seen. We spent a good two hours wandering round, admiring the huge ship, artifacts recovered and stories of its construction, sinking and restoration before watching a short film about it. I could have ...
Stockholm, Sweden will... to the station where computer terminals give you information and got a room at the first hostel we rang, right in the middle of Gamla Stan, the old city and one of the nicest parts of a beautiful city. We even got our own room AND could get WIFI from the room! The ladies at the desk were very nice and helpful too. Hope to continue on a new blog as we attempt to find more permanent dwellings, work and try to settle into swedish society!
Stockholm, Sweden ozitag... and the General Art and Industrial Exposition was held in 1897. During the latter quarter of the 20th century, Stockholm became a modern, technologically-advanced, and ethnically diverse city. Many historical buildings were torn down, including the entire historical district of Klara , and replaced with modern architecture. Throughout the century, many industries shifted away from work-intensive activities into more high-technology and ...
Stockholm, Sweden gregjenlong... shirts. The 1 hour layover in Copenhagen gave us just enough time to eat in the station before boarding our night train for Munich. When we boarded the train, we learned that we would be bunked with 4 other passengers, all who speak German. Only 2 of them know some English, but they all stayed in the bistro until 10 pm. We are all settling in for the night, speeding through small towns in Germany, and hoping that nobody snores tonight. Gute nacht for now.
Stockholm, Sweden amyandjosh... 7 Pepperdine girls and I however, take a ferry to Djurgardsstaden, an island where the Vasamuseet is located (aka Vasa Museum). The Vasa is an old, old wooden ship. Actually an old warship that sank in 1628 on her maiden voyage. After 333 years on the sea floor, she was dredged up, restored and had a museum built around her. She's quite the spectacle, and the Swedes designed the museum so that you can catch a glimpse of her from every level.
