... our mouths and then eventually they take pity and hand out spoons. Now comes dessert which turns out to be chopped up spaghetti in boiled milk with sugar - hmmm, interesting! And finally a banana. We use the drinking water they gave us to wash our hands.

After lunch we are back on the minibus which whisks us off to the area with small canals. Here we transfer onto small wooden canoe type boats which are also propelled by means of a long bamboo pole but this time ...

... out lots of small fishes as well as a cute turtle - no worries, it was fine and was released safely back into the water ;-)).

The atmosphere in the backwaters was at any time fantastic but during sunsets and sunrises it was truly stunning! There was this perfectly peaceful mood and everything was just right. We felt once again so fortunate to see and experience such a wonderful place!

Philip and Marianne ran the home stay, and were absolutely the best hosts one could ever expect! Helpful, always making sure we had tea, coffee, advice, they had organized our entire stay in Kerela (a state of India) through Andrew's requests and communiques.

... and we are about to get our bus to the airport and head back to Mumbai for our flight to Perth tomorrow. Really wish we weren't going back to that dive.

It didn't surprise us when we arrived in Mumbai that the taxi driver said we had to pay his parking charge for waiting for his next customer at the airport. How rude. We had already pre-paid for our taxi and he was still trying to get more money out of us. The cheek of some people.
