... by Me' this countryside is where the film is filmed. We follow the hills and rail road east into the state. I have to say the landscape is so like the film... even 20 years later. Ben it's great ... woods and blue skies ... you'd so appreciate it here ... I start the banter off with lines from the film ...

... a roomette, which we were literally bursting with excitement about. We were on the Coast Starlight No:11 from Eugene-Springfield to San Luis Obispo, journey time 22 hours and 10 minutes. (Amtrak Coast Starlight) Calling at Chemult, Klamath Falls, Dunsmuir, Redding, Chico, Sacramento, Davis, Martinez, Emeryville, Oakland, San Jose, Salinas, Paso Robles and finally San Luis Obispo.

... allergy friendly in Canada, they are NOT in the US. I guess that solves the chocolate cravings! They all had peanut warnings, and nary a peanut free Mars bars to be found.

After lunch we ended up driving parallel to the Columbia River, and never saw so many wind farms. There must have been over 1000 of those propellers along the river for miles and miles. And the irrigated farms along the highway looked sorely out of place with the desert-ish ...
