Due to work commitments we end the cruise early. It would have been nice to have ventured into the state of Maine and seen Boston but duty calls. We learn that the horrid problem with the city sewer systems won't be fixed for another 6 months. Pier 21 looks so familiar from our trip here 2 years ago. The ...

Altogether a great place to spend an afternoon.

For dinner we found a table for eight at McKelvie’s Restaurant (entrees about $24). The food and service were very good as was the beer, so we sloshed our way down to the casino where all save one managed to donate $20 or so to the local economy.

Administrative things with the lawyer, for the house, and the in-routine at CFB Halifax. But all good things must come to an end.

July 31/09

With many belongings still stuffed in boxes we have settled into our new home ...
Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada robsargeant... to board and experience - so well worth the visit to Halifax to take in the Tall Ships Fesitval!

Halifax's harbour is the 2nd deepest & natural harbour in the world next to Sydney, Australia. It is a small picturesque captial city with a population of approximately 380,000, which made it friendly, easy to get around with plenty of history to explore, a mixture of historical and modern architecture ...
Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada travelmenu... easy to get about. Barrington street is the main area.

There are some lovely quaint shops in the downtown area and a lovely farmers market which we went to on the Sunday for a fab local breakfast of eggs, bacon and potatoes.

Weather was not particulary amazing - it rains a huge amount in Halifax with the temperature quite moderate - I think in the mid 60's.

Great 5 days - would love to go back to see it.
Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada chamsterWell we made it, :) We are camped just outside Halifax in a lovely little spot called Glen Margaret, overlooking St. Margarets Bay. The campsite is a large one, but at this time of the year it is winding down, most visitors are here for the Fall leaves. This is one of the few sites in the area that remains open after the middle of October; it's about ...

I sometimes wonder just what we have imposed on the World!!!! A supper in 'The Shoe Shop', which seems to be a converted shoe factory with a great atmosphere and good food ends our trip here. The total driving distance in the 10 days amounted to 1800 miles ...
Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada harryandnorah... When we were about due to begin our descent into St John's we were informed by the captain that the weather had deteriated to the point that it wasn't possible to land our 767-300 aircraft there, thus we changed course and continued directly to Halifax. As we broke through the clouds we saw the martian landscape: snow in every valley, white dusting everywhere, frozen over lakes and rivers and bays out to the sea filled with ice too. We touched down on the snowy runway ...
Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada v1213Business class, that's where I'm sitting, by the window too! This will all be definately worth it if my bag's at Mirabel. Had 2 seats to myself for a short while but then some guy couldn't handle the smoking section (Wow, how long ago does THAT sound?!?) so he came, no prob. Lotsa room here, quieter too. Fairly secluded as well.
Had to fill out a declaration ...
