          Santa Monica - Venice Beach

... nice boardwalk, lots of cool places inland on the way down to Venice on the left and beautiful ocean views to the right. Lots of eccentric characters on the way and lots of home homeless people on the grass verges that separate the boardwalk from the beach.
Venice is very trendy and we were happy to arrive and see the impressive street art, the pier and the skatepark (I love skateboarding and the park is a colossus in the skateboarding ...

... we needed to go (in the same terminal too); but as we walked up they pulled the rope across, shuttle bus backed away, and we missed our flight. No just kidding. We had to go outside, walk around to the "Tom Bradley International Terminal", back through a huge line at security, and sprinted down to the very end of the terminal for a photo finish. Now I'm hot and sweaty for a 15 hour flight. See you on the other ...

Before we get there, I get a pic with a very hot guy who is wearing stilts, although for my photos he crouches down. We try out "The Mummy" ride (another movie Paul has not seen) and it is a roller coaster almost entirely in the dark- scary but fun! Next is the Jurassic Park ride and they do warn you that you will get wet. It's pretty tame right up to the end where you are going to be attacked by ...

I got up at 7.30am to get ready to go on the tour around Hollywood So I had breakfast then I got a taxi to the Hollywood walk of fame. We took our first bus around 9:00 AM, this was the red route.

The red route hit a lot places on Sunset and they have a recorded tour that you can listen to explaining all of the sights and history from the bus. They supply the head phones also. On some of the other StarLiine tours they had ...

... to find the start of the trail, then came upon a very friendly police man who told us one way to get up to the sign - not quite the sandy hike we had anticipated but a steep winding road nevertheless. After half an hour we reached the closest point anyone can get to the sign. We took lots of photos and took in the breathtaking views before heading back to Hollywood boulevard. The bus failed us and we ended up walking for about an hour (I haven't had much success with buses so ...
