NYC - Day 1
I have always wanted to come to New York during the Christmas season to see the lights and be in the holiday experience. So we planned a fun little weekend trip, cold weather gear purchased, typical tourist attractions planned and ready for a couple of days of holly jolly sightseeing. Mother Nature had a completely different plan than we did.

New York City - Day 2
So, Saturday morning we slept in a bit and turned on the news when we got up. That whole snow storm thing was imminent now. There was a 90% chance of snow and they were already calling it the blizzard of 2009. Washington D.C. was covered and it was slated to start snowing around 2:00 that afternoon. I was still thinking the weather peeps had to …
New York - Day 3
Well, it snowed. Alot. I really have never seen so much snow and I'm only looking out the window at this point. And I've noticed something that you always hear and it definitely rings true - New York City is the city that never sleeps. I'll swear to it. You look out the window at 1:00 am and the streets are packed and you look again and they are …
Day 21 Transit from Vancouver to New York
We awoke early at 4.45 to complete packing and check out before our taxi ride to the Airport. The airports in Canada still continue to amaze us as they are huge. Our gate number was F66 and they go up to the 90's so that gives you an idea of how big the place is. The flight to Toronto was uneventful and seemed to go by quickly. Kevin was a little …
Three Hours is NOT enough time to see New York!
I was just in New York for a couple of days for a course, but plan to go back for a vacation. Very VERY busy city, there is so much to see and do. I only had about 3 hours for site seeing, so did the night bus tour and walked to the Chrysler Building. The architecture is fantastic, but it is a shame that many of the older buildings have …

Historical Traveler Reviews Doubletree Guest Suites Times Square New York City
Fantastic
We stayed at Doubletree New York in the New Year 2003. It was in perfect location right on Times Square. The rooms were big and comfortable. We travelled with two children and we had a great time in NY.
Not a bad deal
Stayed here in March 2003 and found it to be a very nice change from a normal hotel. View wasn't the greatest, but I wasn't in the room long enought to really care. Would have booked this hotel again for my October trip, but rates were too high. I would stay here again, but only in the offseason
More than pleased
The greatest New York hotel for families. We traveled with 2 grandaughters, and found the hotel clean, safe, and the staff exremely helpful and friendly. We look forward to staying at The Doubletree any time we travel to New York. Subway and McD's right next door, good security, excellent service, and a welcoming staff. We give it 5 stars. The Doubletree is #1 in our book !
Traveled with two young grandchildren, and the experience at the Doubletree was tremendously positive. The staff were welcoming, and rooms clean and comfortable, the location perfect. Subway next door, theatre 2 blocks away, McDonald's 2 doors away. Housekeeping (Anna) helpful in locating a lost checkbook. I have stayed at the Alonquin, Marriott, Ritz Carlton, but will only stay at Doubletree in the future.
Fabulous Location, Helpful Staff
I stayed at the Doubletree Guest Suites for a weekend getaway. Located in the heart of Times Square, you can't ask for a better location if your plans include Broadway shows! It's a safe walk to most theatres. I found the staff to be delightful. At checkin, I received the famous Doubletree cookies, which are absolutely wonderful. I was provided with directions to a great shop in the Village when I told the desk clerk of a gift I'd hoped to buy while in NY -- she even suggested a restaurant near that area with great soups, salads, and coffee.
My room was on an upper floor, with a nice view of the city. I found the room to be more spacious than others I've had in NY City. There was a well stocked "honor bar" and a clean bathroom with toiletries provided.
You can't go wrong with this hotel. I would recommend it highly.
Helpful Mangement
After I had booked my reservation, a promotional rate was offered through ... I had trouble converting to the promotional rate. When we checked in, I asked to speak to the manager. I asked why I was not able to get the promotional rate. He gave a reasonable explanation and when I asked if I could get a better rate than the one I booked, he made an adjustment and saved me nearly 10%. Not quite the same as the promotional rate but close.
Perfect
After a lot of research and using reviews I read at this site, we chose the Doubletree for our first trip to New York. Everything was perfect! We stayed for over a week and would definitely choose this hotel again. The location is great. Subway right outside the door...walking distance to shows, shopping, restaurants. Everyone at the hotel was so helpful and nice.
Doubletree Suites Times Square
The Doubletree Suites is a great hotel in a great location and is reasonably priced for NYC. Perfect for traveling with kids, since there are two rooms (living area with pull-out couch plus bedroom) and since the hotel is located about a block from the three-story Toys R Us with the ferris wheel. Starbucks is across the street (as well as down the street and up the street and pretty much all over NYC). Mostly, there is just something special about staying in Times Square. We're looking forward to our next trip.
Recent 7-day stay
The Doubletree Suites is very centrally located for site-seeing. Half-price tickets and the subway are steps away. The suites are large, very well appointed and very clean. The hotel was extremely quiet. You need to remember that the Times Squre area is very busy!
Doubletree Guest Suites
If you want to stay at the doorstep of Times Square, this is it! I was a first time visitor, and the people, lights, excitement, and activity of Times Square was right out the door of the Doubletree. We were a group of 5 women in one suite, enjoying NY for the first time over a long weekend. Everyone loved the hotel location. With the 2 double bed room you get two sinks in the bathroom, plus the sink and large mirror in the kitchenette area (microwave, regrigerator, coffee area). The hotel doesn't overwhelm you like some fancy hotels, but there is nothing to complain about either. The room was quiet, clean, and enough room for 5 of us. A great location.
