Lima

Hello hello. Amy and I are back in Lima for the next couple days - the last couple days of our whole trip! This is the third time we have been to Lima on this trip but the first time we are actually doing anything here. The first night of the trip we stayed overnight near the airport and 9 or 10 days into the trip we were back at the airport again, but this time we are down in the fun area of the city called Miraflores. We had a nice day walking around - we went down to the ocean about 12 blo...

Last Night...

Well here we are almost 5 weeks after we started. Our last night on this looong trip. Lima is not a bad place to spend a last night, that's for sure. Amy and I really liked this city, at least the Miraflores District. Out by the airport, not so much, but down in the main part of town, sure! Good people, good hotel, great food at great prices, good weather, good shopping. It's a nice place all around. Definitely not a destination city - there isn't anything to really draw a tourist here to Lim...

Tears in your eyes

It is now Sunday and I am about to leave the Double Tree Hotel in Miraflores, Lima and head for a hotel connected with the 16 day tour of hiking, biking and rafting, I am about to take. I arrived in Lima 5 days ago, and for the first time my whole trip, my travel plans were not 100%. I have been bored and fairly unimpressed with Lima, and I really should have spent the extra days in New Zealand. Arriving in Lima, bags and documents were thoroughly checked, now I could understand this for plac...

Lima - die ersten 3 Wochen im Rückblick

Aaaaaaaaaaalso, buenas dias queridos y queridas....

Country Numero Dos - Peru

Dear travel followers,

Welcome back to our blog!

Having successfully completed the first leg of our journey in Ecuador, with only one lost iPod and one broken camera to account for, we are otherwise both still intact and have safely arrived in Lima, Peru ready for some new adventures.

Our first challenge on this part of the trip was to find the right kind of taxi company at the aiport since we were advised by numerous travel guides and fellow travellers that it was absol...

Historical Traveler Reviews of Doubletree El Pardo Lima Peru

Great Hotel

from Trekkersocal
We stayed 2 nights at the El Pardo Hotel in Lima, Peru.

This was a nice hotel with location in Mira Flores.

It is close to the Pizza Alley as well as Larcomar which is

a short cab ride away (3-5 soles depending on your bartering skill).

The hotel has a business center with free internet (2 terminals)

as well as fitness facilities. We were offered a free welcome drink,

the staff was very helpful in arranging tours to nazca lines, paracas, as well as other city tours.

There was a supermarket close by about 2 blocks from the hotel,

as well as restaurants. Staff were helpful and rooms were clean,

well taen care of, and quiet. This is a reasonable value for Lima

and while not located on the main strip where many of the other hotels are in miraflores, it truly has great value.

they also offer a wonderful breakfast buffet which is included in some of the rates. they also have a fusion restaurant but we did

not try it.

Servizio fantastico

from PMTexas

Great Service

from PMTexas
This a great hotel to stay. I had a big problem with the wireless Internet available (included in the price) in the first night and it was fixed in matter of hours. I have paid US$ 100 per room, 6th floor, no smoking. The room was really good, very clean and looks new. The bed was awesome. The view is awful, but we talk about Lima, right? There is virtually no rain all year and the city reminds me Mexico City and Sau Paulo: Gray, Gray, Gray...

The hotel restaurant is great: food and service; breakfast, lunch or dinner. But it is not a big pro, because Peruvian cuisine is one of the greatest and less expensive in the world. Try the seviche (raw marinated sea food), the taco-taco (unbelievably tasteful) and the buffet criollo.

You can ask anything to the hotel staff and those guys usually comply (please do not get me wrong...). Late check-out, early check-in, complimentary stuff, you name it.

from JRLP

from Phurge

Great hotel in an unpleasant city!

from A TripAdvisor Member
The staff here was very helpful and the room was large and comfortable (my travel companion has a diamond rewards card with hilton and I think this got us a free upgrade.) The view wasn't great but the bed was very nice! The downstairs restaurant was very pleasant and had excellent food, the staff and chef there went out of their way to make sure our meals were perfect.

Good Hotel in a Good Area in a so-so city

from Phurge
After completing the Inca Trail, we were in need of some 5 star luxury, and the Doubletree fit the bill. We stayed in one of their suites with in room spa.

We had a fantastic time here. The staff were courteous and attentive, Room service came quickly and the food was delicious. The rooms themselves were of a high standard. In all, no complaints.

I would note however this is a western hotel with western prices. Compared to other hotels in Lima its not cheap, but, as usual, you pay for what you get.

Good bedroom and location, but poor breakfast

from JRLP
The El Pardo is a modern hotel with little style and warmth but is fine for a couple of nights. It is located in Miraflores, one of the two good, safe, areas for travellers (the other is San Isidro). The bedroom was good, having been recently refurbished, and had free wireless internet (one of the very few we hotels stayed in over a period of 3 weeks in Peru which did have it). The worst aspect was the breakfast, which was poor: terrible, reconstituted fruit juice and not much on the smallish buffet was tempting.

First class hotel

from nat819
The doubletree is an excellent hotel. The hotel is located two blocks from the main street in Miraflores and is in a very safe neighbourhood in Lima. The rooms were very clean, with all the amenities of a 5 star hotel. The hotel had a gym and swimming pool (which we did not use) and a business centre with free internet access. If able to get a good rate, i definately recommend this hotel.

A nice place to sleep

from A TripAdvisor Member
I don't think Lima is a very nice place to visit, but if you have to, this hotel is centrally located in the Miraflores area, which is considered the safest zone in Lima.

There are lots of restaurants nearby, many shops and a department store.

The hotel itself is okay. The rooms are standard size, everything is clean and the staff is nice. There was also a business center with free internet access. In fact all of the hotel had free wireless internet access, so if you go there bring your laptop with you.
