What a day up again at 6:30. I thought we were on a holiday. Had quick breakfast of cereal and on our way to the space center. I had learnt yesterday there was a rocket launch at 8:10am so Tim was eager to get there early to witness it. Now after experiencing the rocket he wants to see the shuttle launch on Sunday night. This will involved us …
... was behind the glass? That's right Sharks! Being that close to these awesome creatures was a wonderful experience and so confident was I at this point, that when our tour guide scribbled on his underwater notepad "Do you want to get in the shark tank?", I was more than happy to give the thumbs up. He was of course joking, however part of me wishes he wasn't! As we continued walking I started to feel like Darth Vader with his huge helmet and trade mark ...
... D show. The simulated bee sting always gets me and it never fails that there are some very frightened kiddos in the theater, but it’s still a good funny show after all of these years.
We thought we'd park hop after the show and we drove back to the resort and ran up to the room to chill out and freshen up a bit. We also hit the store to find new sunglasses for Susan. Then it was just a very short walk over to Epcot where we went straight to the Seas ...
So tired from a day at Disney, I slept in and didn't leave the hotel until 3pm. With no fixed schedule today, we first picked up a hair band for Yang at the Outlet that she previously wanted but didn't purchase and then headed over to Chef Eddie's again for that amazing crab. It was about 5pm and our first meal of the day so we were famished. It was one of those dinners where we were so focused on eating that we didn't talk ...

The two driving in the other car are Javy and Missy. Javy is venturing out to Cali to live her with girlfriend and pursue her dreams as well and Missy is just along for the ride. I had to meet up with them to grab some stuff they had of mind and was surprised when I was handed a walkie talkie. Now we all just need codenames. ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Holiday Inn Resort Orlando - The Castle
Zero guest service
Front desk employees has below zero customer service and social skills. Stayed one night, passed front desk in and out evening and morning several times not once was I greated with words or a smile. I have to mention I got a cookie at the time of check in (without a word). I assume that was suppose to substitute the kind, attentive, communicative hotel staff wich nowhere near to be fund at this hotel. Everything else is great. Good location, nice grounds, heated pool. I would rather go to the dentist than this hotel again.
Up on the roof!
My wife and I stayed here for three weeks may'03. We found the hotel to be very good all round. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful any time we needed them. The cleaning maids were a bit hit and miss, we returned to our room on more than one occasion to find that dirty bed linen had been left on the second bed in the room?! If you stay here, venture up onto the roof with a pack of beer. This gives great views of I-Drive and is really quiet so is great for just chatting to your other half. Try the food at cafe tu-tu tango, it's great. Also good is Sweet Tomatos (Located at the top end of I-Drive) it's great value and excellent food! The whole mystical decor of the castle is great! You could do a lot worse than here!
We stayed at the "The Castle" Doubletree Hotel starting on November 24, 2003 for 4 nights. We both work in the hotel industry, and therefore tend to be slightly more critical of guest accommodations and service when we travel. We were extremely pleased with both at the Castle. The front desk was always friendly and helpful with whatever request we threw their way. The hotel is affiliated with 2 restaurants. We dined at Cafe Tu Tu Tango...a unique restaurant that serves absolutely delicious, appetizer-size "meals". The actual room that we stayed in was very spacious, as was the bathroom. The hotel has a beautiful outdoor pool and whirlpool for guest convenience. As for location, it is perfectly located on International Drive, with lots to see on both sides of the hotel. In front of the hotel is stop 27 of the I-Ride Trolley...highly recommended for getting around International Drive.
Treated Like a King at the Castle
In May I visited the Doubletree Castle for five nights. The room was spacious and immaculate. All of the staff were effecient and friendly, especially Kim at the front desk and Scott at the pool bar. In a kid crazy town, it was nice to be at a hotel that catered more towards adults. Don't miss eating at the Cafe Tu Tu Tango or Vito's. Both adjoin the property. This was a great bargin. I would definitely stay at the Castle again.
Loved the breakfast
I enjoyed our brief stay here. The breakfast was a wonderful cook to order as opposed to a continental. I like the added security of not being able to access our guest room floor without swiping a room key. There were 2 great terraces on top of the building that were fun to view from. The location was great. The only down side was the pool. Great for kids but not fun for adults. It is zero depth all along the edge and only goes about 4 1/2 ft in the center.
A Mystical Dream!
If you are looking for a beautifully themed hotel, well you just found it. The first time I went to The Castle was on our honeymoon. It was a wonderful experience, from the delicious gourmet cookies to the circular dolphin pool. It is located in one of the best areas in Orlando. Within walking distance to the shops & various restaurants. The place is immaculate & has little mystical surprises in every corner. A treasure chest can be found on the Reservation Desk w/chocolate covered mints. One of my favorites. As you walk into this hotel you are completely delighted by some music playing in the background from birds singing to hearing Reinassance Music. I recommend this hotel to even the pickiest of you. You will not be disappointed. Enjoy the mystical experience!
Awesome to say the least!
This hotel was beautiful!!! We ended up scoring it for $50/night on priceline and stayed 3 nights. The staff was more than friendly-- very helpful when it came to area attractions. They even learned our names!! The rooms were top notch-- very clean and the bathrooms were fully stocked with supplies for those forgetful travelers. The beds were comfy as well. The castle music in the rooms was a unique option I've never seen anywhere else. If I ever go to Orlando again, this would be where I would stay. It was TONS nicer than the Disney resort we stayed at (believe it or not). This hotel is highly reccomended!!
Doesn't Fulfil Expectations
Unfortunately this hotel doesn't live up to the dream! Yes, it is decorated in a castle theme - but the public areas are very small, don't even bother with trying to get breakfast (ours was complimentary but it wasn't worth waiting for), the pool and area is small and disappointing. The bar was outside only and very quiet. We also had the misfortune of staying at the hotel during a beauty pagent for young children which was extremely offputting (not to say disturbing seeing 5 year olds in full make up at 8.00am) - so check when you book.Rooms are average - but are clean and well equipped. If you get a good rate, fine - but don't stay there expecting anything special.
I stayed at the Castle Hotel in May of 2001. The hotel itself is extremely clean, including both rooms, bathrooms and facilities in general. The location is convenient to Universal, and International Drive (can walk to restaurants, etc. right from hotel).
The decor is definitely of a castle...so be prepared to be sitting in chairs that look fit to for a king, etc. The only thing I did not like was the pool area. Due to the sun position starting early/mid-afternoon (when you want to relax poolside after a day at a fun park), there was minimal sunny spots (and the pool area is small), it was mostly shade which was unfortunate for a nice hot relaxing afternoon soaking up the sun.
This is a wonderful hotel. It has a cute story behind it, there is a "castle beast", a cute little dragon type animal who guards the castle, the ceiling at the entrance shimmers, two free cookies when you check in, a scavenger hunt for the kids with a prize, a coloring book for any children, two gardens on the roof of the hotel, centrally located with two restaurants, and wonderful atmosphere. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The only complaint, and it is kind of a large one, is that it is a bit pricey. We paid almost one hundred dollars, high season. Other than that, if money were no object ( and in a perfect world it wouldn't be) this is a great hotel.
