... side and the West village which we concluded with a tourist lunch at Katz's Deli - sharing a Pastrami on rye and a Reuban with pickles on the side of course. While the prices are high enough you'd only go once, the food was great.

Now off to plan the rest of our week in NYC... sure to include MoMA, Guggenheim, Brooklyn Brownstones, Central Park, Mexican, Diners and lots and lots of ...

Grand Central Station was impressive. Ornate ceiling and over a hundred "tracks" platforms.

Onwards to Rockerfeller Building and 'Top of the Rock'. Coolio. Rock music in the lift and the lift shaft is lit up like landing strip- gets you in the mood. Glorious sunshine and fab views. Complimented ESB and glad we've done both.

Next stop Museum of Modern Art. Great Van Gogh, Monet, Miro, Picasso ...

Our hotel has brekky here which is brilliant, we got dressed and went down to the breakfast room to grab a quick bite to eat before our Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island Tour.

We took the subway down to Battery Park and then realised we were not on the right line, this caused some irrits and eventually we took a taxi to the Pier. We went through the screening which is worse than the airport one and boarded the ferry. It is a short trip to ...

... to be a good decision! Little did we know though, that the sandwiches would contain about 1kg of pastrami...and nothing else! Raiders of the Lost Ark The Lower East side continued to be the best place for coffee in NYC. We stumbled across a cool place, which was a small art gallery doubling as a cafe. ... and I was set for the day and very happy indeed. Seeing as I hadn't really been outside for 3 days I went for a bracing walk up to Central Park, 5th Avenue and Times Square, it's a gorgeous day today and it was lovely to soak up the sun on such a crisp morning and get some fresh air into my lungs. After 3 hours of walking around the park and city it was all too soon to head back to the hotel and do some work until I can clock off for 3 and a half weeks ...
