Nice grounds and great views over the hills. The facilities are basic but what you would expect. No wifi in rooms just the foyer. Lovely restaurant and good breakfast choices.
We could walk into town and eat but avoid the creek bed after dark.

Alice Springs flying stop over! Nice heat as we arrived following a scenic flight from Perth. We were surprised not to get that waft of heat, smell of tarmac and airplane fuel as we stepped off the plane. Well it is moving into winter months in the Southern Hemisphere and although hot there was a cooling breeze that greeted us. (26 degrees arrival …

Everyone was wrapped up …

Dear friends!

We made it out of desert! (actually it is semi-desert or semi-arid, 70% of the Australian territory is semi-arid). We drove back to Alice Springs from Uluru, with several stops we made in 4,5 hours. It was hot, very hot but if your car is ok, there is no reason why you cannot make it. The road oasis places with gas, food, …

Today Tuesday we had our first full day in Alice Springs. It is in the middle of Australia and home to 25000 people. First thing we did was go to an aborigine village. I believe it has been created to be what it is like to see where the aborigines live. The Aborigines are a very quite and not used to our world. The presentation which included Ely …

So after our early morning flight was cancelled we took a walk around Cairns and did a little shopping. Please note not too much was open at 8am. We left the hotel and the bus took us to the Cairns Botanic Gardens (Ira I thought of you). Then off to the airport and due to the ruining of our day with the cancelled flight Quantas gave us each a $25 …
