... we walked through the town, across the Green and through a covered bridge to start our hike. We followed the wide and easy carriage trails for a while then veered off onto the aptly named Precipice Walk. Well, there was a bit of a drop on one side, but hardly 'hold your breath' stuff. We did decide however, that since we had so much time to spare and had explored most of the town already (think of Rutland as like a Bunbury with mountains), that we should start packing ...

... and then after crossing to the other side of the highway, the Diamond Run Mall. It was here that we found our very first JCPenney (not as good as Ellen DeGeneres makes it out to be), and also our first Sears (this was worth the walk). After a little shopping for Jess and a little bit more shopping for me, we decided to head back; that, and there were storm clouds rolling in.

We headed back via an Aldi (also a novelty for us West Australian folk), and bought ...
