... Two cameras and an iPad take up a lot of room in a 20 litre day sac. When we went to the room where we were to dine we were met by a feast. The hotel staff attending us were all dressed in kimonos and white socks. There were five of them to serve 13 of us. We decided to try sake so ordered a bottle between us. ... the fort, which i was taken to by car by Yoshi one of the rider's at the house, who borrowed it from a friend, the garden around has a star fish shape which makes it quite different. Then we tucked in some ramen of course because that is the best dish ever! Yoshi knew a place nearby so we followed and it was good!

We were up early and on the metro to Tokyo main station (Tom was even so eager we got off at the wrong stop and had to board the next one!). Once at the station we completed a very efficient exchange of the voucher for our Japan Rail Passes and reserved our seats on the 8.20am Shinkansen (bullet) train heading north ~700km to Shin Aomori.
