Great location and comfortable hotel
I just got back from three nights in the hotel, sharing with my two children.
Don't be put off by people saying the hotel is out of the way: it's not. With 3/4 S-Bahn lines serving the Tiergarten station which is literally across the road you can be in any of the stations in Mitte in 10 minutes tops and Zoo Station is the next station in the other direction. Potsdamer Platz is only one change of train away (20 minutes should do it). So I think it is in a great location for getting about the city and to and from the airport (S9).
The rooms all seem to be a standard size and confortably fitted our needs. I only wish they had more than CNN & MTV in english (this is a problem with many hotels in europe) as the children would like something to watch.
We got a great deal of €89/night including breakfast: which set us up for the morning: do check out the Accor group web site for different deals. The choice was very good and the breads were lovely.
We had dinner the first night in the hotel and I was really pleased to find a good kid's menu. It had a number of choices including real dishes (not just nuggets, etc) in child portions, topped off with icecream and an apple drink, all for €4.90! The adult choices were good as well, only down point was €6.00 for a small glass of wine: half bottles would have been good, since I don't like beer.
All in all a very clean, confortable hotel with friendly and helpful staff. I would stay here again.
Traumhaftes Hotel in Toplage
Very comfortable ..but a little out-of-the-way
just returned from a 2 nite sat at the novotel, tiergarten. a friendly modern hotel, the standard room was very nice with a very comfortable bed. the only downside is the location which is not so central - a 15 min walk thru' the tiergarten will bring u to the brandenburg gate. the park inn, alexanderplatz or the radissonsas are probably more central. however the s-bahn stn is right beside the hotel which is handy. there's very little in the immediate area of the hotel apart from the stn and burger king. a word of warning - berlin is much bigger than i expected - a w/end stay is not enuff to see even half the city as the sights are quite spread out and u will spend half the day on public transport (very efficient) getting around. if u are arriving/departing from schonefeld a/port, the S9 stops at tiergarten stn (very handy!). overall i wud recommend this hotel.
Stayed at the Novotel Dorint Tiergarten with my family for 3 nights. I visit Berlin 3 to 4 times per year, so I know quite a few hotels in this city. Most hotels in Berlin are clustered around the Ku'damm in the West or around the new Berlin Mitte (around Potsdamer Platz); this one however is an area where you will find no other hotels. This is by no means a disadvantige. The S-Bahn station Tiergarten is right next to the Hotel. Ku'Damm, Europacenter, and many other attractions can be reached by foot in about 15 to 30 minutes (a nice walk through the Tiergarten with glimpses of the Zoo and Canals). There is a major road (Strasse des 17. Juni) in front of the hotel, so the rooms towards the front can be a bit noisy if the windows are opened.
Nice reception, friendly staff and as a nice added touch there is one of Berlins best Flea Markets right outside the door (I think its only open on Sundays and maybe Saturdays). Breakfast is average but ok for this hotel category and 19 Euros. Overall a pleasant experience and highly recommended.
I just returned from a 3 day's stay in Dorint Novotel Am Tiergarten
and I was very impressed with the standard of this hotel. As a frequent traveller in germany I always stay in Dorint Novotel's if it's possible and this is one of the very best.
The hotel is very new and everything is shinning. The staff are very professional and pulite.
The hotel is very good located right beside the U-Bahn and there are only 10 min. walk to b Brandenburger Tor and kurfuersten Damm.
The rooms are very good size with a extremely comfort bed, Luxury Bathroom, Sofa & Table, Tv, Aircon, Internet, Safe, Coffee & tea maker and it's all very clean.
One of the must AMAZING things about all the Dorint Novotel is the breakfast. It's is a little expensive, 17 euro's-BUT GO FOT IT!!!
The choise and quality are so AMAZING and one of the best breakfast buffet I ever had tryed.
I also eat in the restaurant two nights and again I was extermely satisfied with the quality and price.
There is also a beautiful bar and wellness center. If you are in car the hotel also provide a safe garage right under the hotel.
All in All this hotel is VERY good value for your money so if you are going to berlin, pick this hotel.
I will be back for sure.
Just had a fantastic weekend stay at this hotel slight hiccup with rooms which was soon rememdied with a complementary breakfast for the whole party (12). Would highly recommend a stay here. Ideally situated next to the u bahn.
We just spent 3 days at the Dorint Tiergarten and enjoyed it very much. It is located directly at Tiergarten S-Station, 2 stations from the new central station, so you can reach every point of interest and restaurant or bar in a view minutes. (I recommend the day ticket for 1 and 2 or a " small group ticket"-if you are more than 2 traveling together)
Rooms are quiet and you can even sleep with an open window, if you your room is at the back of the hotel (a/c is good and silent, btw).
Staff is very nice and friendly. We didn´t use the wellness area, but as far as we have heard it must be nice.
We were lucky to book well in advance, so we got their "Hot-Deal-Rate" 54,- Euro per room, but we would even stay there again for a higher rate.
If the 17,-Euro for (a really wonderful) breakfast seems to much, you can take some pastries and rolls + coffee at a bakery right across the street.
If you like Indian food, try the Maharadja, at Goltzstraße, near Nollendorfplatz. It is comparatively cheap and so good !
Modern and functional
I'm just comeback from 6 days spent in this Hotel in Berlin. It's well situated since it's few meters from central S-Bahn "Tiergarten". I payed only 59€ and i add 17€ for a GREAT breakfast. All hotel is absolutely very modern, functional, safe, clean. Room is very large with a king-size bed, big shower, separated WC, conditioned air, tea facilities, direct phone number, PC connection, silent.
Receptionist speak a good english and always helpful and smiling.
Hall is very large with 2 free PC and internet available.
At the last floor there's a GREAT wellness center with: solarium, free hammam and finnish sauna, relaxing room, a small fitness room and also towels, bathrobe, shoes, dressing rooms... it's open till midnight!
I'm sure to comeback there next time even if i suggest before to reserve it to look for a promotional price otherwise normal price is around 200€!
Maybe the breakfast cost is too high since you can eat at a lower price somewhere else and another negative thing is that close to it there's only a great park (healthy to visit), but no close bar or restaurant, anyway there's the close Zoo area and also in 3 metro stops you're in the central area of an emotional city!
A perfect hotel in a not so central area.
I stayed at Dorint Novotel Tiergarten in Berlin 21 aug 2005. This hotel opened just 2 months ago, and if you have ever stayed in a Dorint or a Novotel, forget what you know about them, - this hotel has a brand new style, and the reception area, bar, restaurant etc are all of a new design.
The room is spacious with a nice design, with both a separate shower cabinet and separate bathtub, and also have a safe, coffemachine, safe and minibar. The room was much bigger than expected, and it was quiet, both from noice from the outside and from the corridor. This is really how you would like a hotel room to look like.
Free use of internet in the reception area.
I payed euro 49 for a single ( king size bed ) booked at accor, the hotel chain's own homepage, not including breakfast.
The only thing which is not ok, is the area around the hotel; no restaurants, no bars, no shops. Taxis are fairly cheap, it will cost you € 8 to get to Kurfurstendam area. 15 min walk trough Tiergarten will take you too Zoo station and Kurfurstendam, but this is no place to walk at nigth. The hotel is situated rigth across the street of the Tiergarten station, and it is easy to get to the hotel from the airport by using the U-bahn.

Caught the S-Bahn to the Hackeschermarkt, and had breakfast at a restaurant there which was fantastic due to the cheese:other things ratio being quite high. There were lots of bees, though. Walked from here to the berlin wall memorial which was fairly underwhelming, a bit interesting though, it was set on a street which the wall divided. Then …
Had breakfast at the Giraffe cafe nearby, it was fairly weird, but good because there was a lot of cheese and bread, but also some weird not-so-tasty things. Brendan blew melted wax all over the floor as we left and didn't tell me, ridiculous. Walked along the road to the victory column which we climbed, had a pretty good slash terrifying view of …
Woke up and got the U-Bahn to the Hbf, brendan caught his backpack in the doors of the train :/ had breakfast at coffee fellows(?) in the station, then got on the train to Berlin with a stop in gottingen. We were about 10 minutes late so weren't sure if we were going to make the connection, but the other train was late aswell. Got to berlin after …
Here we learned a little history leading up to WWII, and how the Nazis came to power. First off, why is it called the Third Reich? Reich means empire, so it was the third German empire. The First Reich was the Holy Roman Empire. Which wasn't really Holy, wasn't really Roman, and wasn't really an Empire. The Second Reich began with the creation of the German National State in 1871, and ended after WWII. The Third Reich began with the rise of the Nazis ...
