Slept so well last night! It was finally dark and quiet enough to get a good nights sleep. We booked our tickets to Amsterdam tomorrow online so that was super convenient. We leave on a 3.5 hour bus tomorrow at 10am. We got showered and dressed and left the hotel just in time to make brunch at Kaffe Mühle. It's the giant windmill in the middle of the park. It had a breakfast buffet for €12 and we ate in the outside courtyard. ...

We woke up early and caught a morning bus to Bremen. Super short and easy 1.5hr drive from Hamburg and we reach the beautiful little city of Bremen. We walk to our hotel, The Five Seasons Fashionhotel, and it is so nice!!! We get in our rooms and it is LUXURIOUS! Well luxurious compared to last night. We get settled and do a quick sink laundry of our underwear and get going. Our hotel is a 10 minute walk to all of the action ...

The Navigator even went for a run a round the 3.5Km lake; I walked in the opposite ...

... Brunch. Here we were joined by Johanna's mother, who coincidently had come to Bremen the night before and was also leaving on Monday. As they all had class and I had been to Bremen before (obvs), they all thought it would be a great idea for me to give her mother a guided tour of the city. "No problem" I thought, and so we headed off into the city whilst everyone else headed off to class. However it soon became clear that after two ...

    ... of France.

It's a human characteristic to feel empathy for other humans, and that's certainly what I felt at times realizing that homes were destroyed and people died here not so long ago for the scars to have faded. But there was an odd sense of distance, too, between me and the people around me. Not just because we found the people of Bremen to be a little colder than even the stiffest upper lips we'd encountered in London, but also because ...
