Rajai dropped me off at the Kilimanjaro airport at around 6pm for my 8:50pm flight. As expected, the flight was late getting in, and we didn't board until almost takeoff time. Apparently this is a regular loop for KLM - Amsterdam, Kilimanjaro, Dar es Salaam. We take off about 30 minutes late, land in Dar es Salaam about 45 minutes later, take off fairly quickly, and I'm delighted that the flight isn't full and I have the seat next to me open! For an 8.5 hour first leg, this is a ...

The next day up and ready to to tackle the Hop On and Hop Off bus we managed that without any problem these buses are certainly a great invention and great way to see and learn about the city you visit. It was also decided to do a boat cruise along the many many man made canals in Amsterdam. There are so many canals you can certainly get confused as to which ...

The entirety of the floor is composed of slabs of rock that are gravestones dating back as early as the 15th century.

After our long day of touring we decided it would be time for some food, so my ...

Landed a few minutes early. The flight was full, unusually for the early morning flight, so seating was a little cramped. I had a window seat over the wing so had a good view, even if it was mainly of clouds after take-off. As usual the cabin crew try to quickly serve plastic tubs of water or orange and a biscuit before having to collect the empties and rubbish; why do KLM bother on such a short ...

Getting here at 7am gave us the whole day to enjoy this city. Have had plenty of experience using the public transportation already, from train to tram to bus, and it shows that life here has no need for the confines of a car. This is a people city, with everyone constantly interacting and enjoying the coffee shops by the canal. We definitely need to take one of those canal cruises because these canals are beautiful and ...
