Like Hannibal and his elephants we took it upon ourselves to traverse the mighty Alps in our trusty Citroen. Driving over the Col du Glandon on our way to the village of Le Bourg D'Oisains we arrived just as the weekly markets were about to open.

A tasty breakfast of brioche and grande cafe at the local boulangerie and we were set for shopping and cycling. A visit to the local cycle shop to enquire about climbing the Alpe was in order as conditions were terrible, pouring rain ...

Finally some sunshine, well at least a peek through the clouds every now and then. Ready to ride at 5.30am and the night clerk forgot to leave the key out for the shed. Another late start then I'm off to climb Col du Mollard.

We are off for dinner soon in St Michel then tomorrow two TDF climbs are on the agenda.

We left Valloire and headed towards Les Deux Alpes, we had been warned of a cycle event going on from Valloire and as the site didn't mind what time we left we thought we would hold off as late as possible to leave and hopefully let the bike event finish, we only had 45 miles to do so it made sense!

We left site just after 3pm, within ...
