Gulet annoyances and Dalyan

The boat was good except that everyone was in too close quarters. Keira (my age, canadian) annoys the hell out of me and having her so close and not being able to move away from her was a little tough. I had a swim in the sea which at first was nice but since I couldn't touch the bottom it was tough work. Michelle (canadian) gave me the noodle she was using and that made it much more enjoyable. After that we had a bit of a sunbake and then we taught ******** (card game) to some new people and...

You had to pay to enter the mud baths, even if you didn't go in and I have to admit (at the risk of sounding a snob - after visiting the blue lagoon (Iceland) there was no way I getting in the water/mud here!! It was hard to distinguish where the actual 'natural healing' spring started and where it was ...

6 ladies, two men, two weeks, only 1 Turkiye!

I was really overdue my holidays, finally getting to take it in October and I just signed up to two weeks of not doing much in Turkey with a couple of friends in a group. For me though not doing much isn't my cup of tea so I took every chance to re-live my old Turkey memories, from food, sights, sea, dancing and ahem, yes the men, again :)

Please come back soon as I update all the stories from the two weeks. Thanks.

Ruined by Tourism

... present things to make the "standard tourist's" life easier. Menus are filled with the staple "tourist" foods (pizza, pasta, hamburgers and English Breakfasts), usually with bad pictures. All the bars gain a feel that could be lifted from a bad parody of Las Vegas, whilst drink prices drop to a level that ensures the drunken patrons destroy anything that would have added to the ambience of the town. Touts start to line every corner to hawk an ...

Summer Storm

... 8220;big(ger) city” vibe here was uncomfortable to me. So after a few days I left for Kabak Valley, a mellow harder-to-reach part of the coast that promised some peace and quiet. There, overlooking the lovely beach at the foothills of Dragon Mountain I resumed my Yoga practice but did not relax into the peace I was seeking. I did not understand it at the time, but I was transferring my longings to “him” onto the attractive and single owner of the ...

... around. I got to go in first while Chris and Damien watched, but the guard was too alert for any subterfuge. It wasn't really a problem, as the baths were also a giant waste of money. I barely noticed the warm water, so busy was I dodging swirls of green goo and flaccid pink Germans. We wandered around the ancient ruins and in the early afternoon made our way to the Marmaris peninsula on the south coast.

More fun in Dalyan!

... across the river. It was a small row boat. I was afraid it might tip over! Next was the beach. At the beach we just...well...walked and looked at shells. I took off my flip flops and ran in the waves. After the beach we went to dinner. The meal was great, but I have a way with animals. When a cat walked up, I tossed her some food. As the dinner went on another cat and two dogs ...

Piggish Delight

Our second day in Dalyan was entertaining if a little touristy. Our tour leader put together a few activities for the group of us to try out. We rented a boat to traverse the river beside the town and went upstream to an apparently famous mud bath and hot springs area. Dustin Hoffman and Sting are said (and photographed) to have visited these very pools, and if it's good enough for Sting, who am I to complain ...
