Just when we thought Venice was the most beautiful place we would visit in Italy, Varenna may have beaten it into second place. Neither of us can get our heads round the fact that we are actually seeing what's around us. The apartment is amazing and the views from the balcony alone are worth the trip. Claire has also befriended a blind cat so we keep having to think of excuses to go and see the lady so Claire can rub the cat.

This is a simple hotel, with simple rooms, with a simple breakfast, that will do job.
If you want a pool, a breakfast with 3 miles and a runaway to put the car...this is not what you are looking for.

... they welcomed us in as Aussies and we had a lovely pizza and wines taking in the views of the lake and Swiss alps in the background. The owners explained they ran a B&B and if we came back again we would definitely stay here.
Walked back to tram and down the steep slope - another walk around town and back to our B&B. A great day taking in magnificent scenery of Switzerland and northern Italy.

In the end i asked Joelene to walk behind me and as part of our effort to get to our meeting point and a few Italian shoulders were pushed 90 degrees to appropriately share the pedestrian area.
