... to pick up Karin's mother who is coming to stay so I booked lunch for us at the Hermitage in the Col d'Eze which was a good choice as it was a beautiful setting and great food. A bit off the beaten track so a lot less crowded than anything on the coast and with easy parking. Karin and Mark took all the photos so I guess they will be for the next blog. Back to work on Monday but it's a short week again as Friday is a holiday, 15th August. Thank goodness for all these bank ...

We have breakfast on the Terrace that provides us with a great view of Lake Como, the sun is shining, a family of swans are swimming past. The breakfast spread is good, coffee is good, ah Bellagio it is everything we expected. ... seeing she had been so helpful I gave her the 70 cents change, but was she grateful of my generosity, no way, so I probably carry a Gypsy Curse with me now.

Soon we are heading out of Milan and make our way up into the mountains for the 55 minute ride to Varenna where we will catch a ferry to Bellagio. The views are spectacular and all is going fantastico as we pull into Varenna until two stupid Poms don't know how to open the ...

... We continue to be impressed. A stroll amongst the avenues where all the design labels reside and then back to the hotel to dump the shopping bags before heading off in pursuit of the Campomaggi handbag. Now Italians are good at a lot of stuff, but numbering their Piazzas is not one of them. It takes us an hour and directions from numerous non English speaking assistants and then, you guessed it, it was a small retailer who amongst many ...
