    Cruising Waterway Standard in 1983. This is the part which remains today. Eleven and three quarter miles with 15 double locks. It runs basically from south to north on the west side of Nottingham.

    Getting to the top of the River Soar and moving onto the River Trent was quite breathtaking. So much water around.

    So we are off to Rome, flying Ryanair from East Midlands Airport. East Midlands Airport has some terrible reviews as does Ryanair so what can go wrong. We decided to use the long stay parking as our return flight gets in at 10:30 pm and using buses or taxis could end up in failure. We prepaid for Long Stay Car Park 1 and arrive at the boom gates to see "Car Park Full" sign. Press the help button and told to use Long Stay Car Park 4. Eventually we get in and ...
