On the drive up we stopped at a monument at the start of the
dyke crossing the Ijsselmeer. Here a dyke that stretches in a straight line for

credit cards are not much use here. Apparently the people are almost boycotting
credit cards as a way of protesting the high charges attached to credit card
transactions. These charges are around 5.5% which is very comparable to our
charges in South Africa. The difference here is that the people are prepared to
do something about it.
