Yue yang (temples, lake and traffic jams)
Day-tripper again, to a city called Yueyang. A little place a couple of hours up the motorway – 600,000 inhabitants. Nice little town.
Big, drunken lunch (see the photos), with loads of Jin's buds – some big honcho in local government and his cronies. Great food, too much alcohol.

Lost in Translation

We then turned around and headed back through the Gorge when the man, steering the boat, burst into song, this experience was so surreal, exactly what we wanted, only maybe with a bit of English speaking!

Life on the Yangtze River
... We saw smaller family farms. The valleys are also home to manufacturing plants and power plants and smog is pervasive. We did not have a single clear crisp day the whole cruise and in fact not for the whole trip; pollution is a huge problem in China.

Yueyang Tower
Our visit to Yueyang was really just a short one but the beautiful Yueyang Tower was certainly worth the time not just for its historical significance. The park and garden setting overlooking the lake is beautiful.
