... Its too bad, but i like me, i love me, i believe in me!! '' AMAZING!! And i would say impressive for a 10 year old to think like this - he is funny though. His name is Peter (or 'Pizza' cos they are used to the American pronunciation of Peter, not the English) and he is a cheeky little student but has good English and was the one who spread around the 'are you ******** me'?! phrase amongst his peers :)

xx
Chuseok holiday and teaching

... be placed by. I'm sure there are other cultures that are worse. Maybe India was worse. I remember some villages we went to the men and women were divided. The women would be in the back and men in the front or vice versa. That was a village though, and this is a developed city. I imagine there is some easy explanation that maybe I will discover in time.

Teaching is still stressful. I get feedback everyday it feels like. It's beginning to be overwhelming ...

... me home and gave her the map to Chung Dahm. She had been eating. It looked like we were about to leave, because we were walking towards the door, but I think I might have been walking towards the door and she might have been walking towards me because then some ladies said something and she walked over and I walked over also and said hi. Then she told me "sit down," so I sat down. I got the feeling we were waiting for someone. Then she left her purse and walked ...

... in some part of the hallway. I would prefer a squatty over a disgusting toilet though.

Today I went to the store and tried to buy regular pickles, but all they eat here are sweet pickles so I ended up with sweet pickles. I also tried to buy a pack of tuna cans and all I read was the tuna part. I somehow missed the "in hot pepper sauce." I did successfully find grapes that are seedless.

I should get to start teaching Friday or Saturday! Woot!

... week, so I had attached a picture of one onto his chocolate! It was a much more enjoyable lesson... In terms of travelling, I had decided to visit the much-hyped Gyeongju at the weekend to hopefully recharge my batteries. I was surprised at just how easy it was to reserve train tickets online, and I'd booked myself into a nice hotel for the Saturday night. These plans make the week go much more smoothly, as you have something exciting to look ...

... overlooking the river and enjoyed a nice breakfast just the three of us. Friday afternoon we took the subway to meet Matt, Beth's boyfriend, as they were taking us to a "traditional tea ceremony". We found ourselves in the middle of downtown Daegu on what is called "cell phone street". But here in the middle is Mr. Lee's tea shop and what a neat place it is. Besides coming in and enjoying tea with Mrs. and or Mr. Lee, one ...

... up is at 04:00 and chanting commences in the temple at 04:30 followed by one hour of sitting and walking Zen (for me, it was really tough sitting still for up to an hour in my poorly formed lotus position). Breakfast and break is at 06:30 (the sun was not up yet) followed by Sunmudo training at 08:30; tea time at 10:30 was followed by 108 bows and more sitting Zen until 12:00 lunch. At 13:00, another hour of Zen followed by two hours of group work. Supper was ...

The continuing misadventures!

... absolutely no idea where. I went into a coffee shop named Princess Coffee to get some change and ended up getting a free mug. There was a woman in there who was really friendly and spoke comprehensible English and she called her friends to ask how we would get home and then walked us to the bus stop and even waited with us until we got onto the bus. So we made it home finally... did tons of walking this weekend! Tomorrow I go to Japan too, another chance to get lost!!

Korea makes me laugh!!

Hellooooooooo!! It's officially summer!! And summer in Korea means hot sticky muggy weather interspersed with thunder storms that don't clear the air. Saying that, this week we've had glorious weather. ('Glorious' being a word I stole from my grandmothers dictionary). It's sunny and warm and not too muggy. Been in Korea for....9 months now. Isn't it ridiculous how quickly time passes?!?!? Absolutely loving it here and enjoying every minute. It's kinda nice to know that I'm ...
