Got sunburned at the beach again

... I let her. She brought me to the beach and I walked along the shallow waves, trying not to cut my feet on the shells, until I got hungry.

Everything there was extremely far away from everything else, so finding a place to buy something to eat was no simple feat. When I did, all I found was a ****** little shop with some ramen and chips for sale. The same woman was there. Strange. I bought my staple snack food, ice cream and beer, ...

... before lunch I decided to go all the way. The riding was a bit of a mixed bag. I started out by the coast, headed inland through karst mountains, climbed some foothills through tea plantations and when the hilly section thankfully ended, I spent the last 35 km going through rice paddies. Race day

A travel blog entry by woods.jan on Jun 06, 2013

At least is overcast so a little cooler, thank heavens. Most of the day spent getting organised for buses to pick us up. We had a police escort and a convoy of 18 buses, to take us to venue. Then we had the dotting ceremony, and then the races. Seemed no reason for the way the teams were split into 3 groups, but I think in hindsight, it was to give the local teams the best advantage. We got about $850 for participating. First prize was about $5000 or 45000 ...

    Good morning Vietnam

A travel blog entry by ianvictoria on Mar 16, 2009

We actually arrived in Dongxing (Chinese border) on Sunday night. Thtis was quite worrying as our guide book told us that there are only 3 border crossings to Vietnam from China and this wasn't one of them. In fact this whole town has been completely missed from the guide book! Where are we!!!!! No body in this town speaks English, even the main Hotels couldn't help us. Any way, we knew that we wanted to go to 'Hanoi', and that 1 word was as ...

    Roots in Qinzhou?

... carriage was full of chain smokers (of course), and high school kids spitting phlegm and sunflower seed shells onto the ground. Anyway, upon arriving, I discovered the train station was a bit out of the way from the city centre, and I could see no hotels or guesthouses anywhere, so I hopped on the back of a motorbike taxi and off we went to the vicinity of the bus station where I found a cheap hotel to stay at. I took a look at the room first and it seemed clean enough to ...
