... we slept in our bus, going nowhere!

His alarm went off around six in the morning and he roused a few others from their sleep! Simultaneously, a row of taxis joined the bus. One by one the taxi drivers hopped out! (Oh God! What's going on here??) They each took a bag from the bus and once again disappeared. Some of the helpers jumped into a passing white van. And a strange old man passed the bus, nonchalant, but walkin backwards up the road. We shrugged off ...
Taiyuan, Shanxi, China barevnycirkus... In some cases, taking part in a face-to-face class could be inconvenient due to scheduling, traffics, safety, etc, especially for those kids who intends to learn Chinese for Children. Online mandarin Chinese ...
Taiyuan, Shanxi, China jenny77... it's hard to smile all the time, have such a structured schedule, get so many pictures taken, and try and converse with people you can barely speak to (thank god Ting and Sai Wing were there as our impromptu translators). I much prefer the backpacking form of travel. I like eating in the hole-in-the-wall places, I like my own schedule, and I hate having my picture taken. But it was nice to see a different world, just for a weekend.

Taiyuan, Shanxi, China jstellarWe get dropped off at the Qingxu service station at 2:30am. There's a 24hr convenient store, we find a row of plastic seats and tries to make it until the sun comes up. We have been on the road nonstop for 18 hours, have to wait 7 more hours before we can find a bed.
Taiyuan, Shanxi, China whereskyle... of how tall it is. The third stop is from the bottom. By this time fog had lifted enough to see across. To get to the viewing spot one must walk through a park running along the river. The park was built to show materials used in the construction. A waterfall is made from stones used to show how they were cut and so forth. On the way back to the city we asked Lucy about a good place to eat and she ...
Taiyuan, Shanxi, China masovy_kasparek... days. We purchased a heart-shaped lock from one of the vendors and had Seamus's name inscribed onto the back of it. Then we treked the rest of the way up to the west peak and affixed it to a chain that had a stunning view of the mountains and wished for our little buddy to rest in peace. The post is in memory of Seamus. Love ya little guy. You were the best doggy ever!!! (Typos to be fixed later / Sorry about the sideways panda pics)
Xian, Shanxi, China kasey_kid... way to do it!! The doctors best guess was that they saw videos of animals having sex and just figured that must be how people get pregnant too!Hahahhahaha I know, I know, it's so hard to believe but apparently this is a true story about sex in China! How the hell the population became so large here is anyone's guess - it just proves the saying "sometimes the more you learn about something (a peron/a place) the less you really want to know"!
Taiyuan, China trent... on my face when I ask him to explain and then he points to his toes. Tip tops - hahaha! You know as you descend an incline your feet tend to press forward and crush your toes into the front of your shoes - this is what was wrong. Later I figure out that he confused it with "tippy toes" resulting in "my tip tops hurt". Those English idioms (like "its raining cats and dogs" cause a ton of confusion in the non-English speaking world) Hmmm ...
