Two distinct parts - a modern tower block and a much older low-rise. The tower block is probably quieter and more comfortable, but there can be a long wait for the lift at busy times. Generally a good standard and the food at breakfast was good, though I didn't try any other meals. Fairly chaotic at Reception and lacks a comfortable lobby.

The hotel was clean and a lift was available. The only problem was the staff spoke very little English, this caused some problems.

City of many tales - Beijing

A travel blog entry by bhavnapatel

1st July - We were picked up from the airport and transported to the hotel. We were met by our personal guide called Martina (the English name). The hotel was very good and not very far from Tiananmen Square. The only problem we had was the staff did not speak English and it was difficult to communicate with them. The rooms were clean and good. It …

Hello again everybody. It's been a few days so here we go. Yesterday we got up bright and early and visited Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven. We visited a silk making plant, had some Beijing Roast Duck and attended an Acrobatic Show. Quite a bit in 1 day that reached temperatures in the mid to high 30's. It …

Declined the 'exiting breakfast' on offer, and wandered up to the coffee shop again instead. Gave up trying to ask for decaf - there's a limit to how genuine a Chinese coffee shop can be. It's western breakfast menu was spaghetti or pizza!

Wandered over to the People's Park after breakfast to while away some time. Lovely grass and gardens …

It's a measure of the size of Xian that the trip to the airport from the city takes over an hour. For some reason, I'd expected this to be a fairly small airport with just a few flights each day, but in fact it's large and very busy with many flights to different destinations - all of them in China, except for one flight to Singapore. There is a …
