Saturday day met Diana downtown with some other EPIC peoples, had a bit of lunch with Diana (proclaming she wants chopsticks not forks, lol) and did some shopping with everyone for some warm winter clothes cos ohh myy god its gotten so cold. Teaching Pictures

... you should see my name).
5) Enjoy the few pictures.

If you have any troubles accessing the page please let me know. I tried it a couple times and I think it should work for you as well.

I am jealous of all those who have had the privilege of getting their first snow of the season. It's going to be a long winter without snow :(.

I will have another blog with lots of pictures real soon!

Take care,
Tim

Settling in

I finally taught my first class at Chung Dahm! It is so hard to manage time, especially in the upper level classes. There are three homework books to check, and I have to have the review test done within the first 30 minutes of class. I didn't submit attendance one day till after I checked home (I thought I could do both at once that way to save time) but then someone from the office came down to tell me I had to submit the attendance at the ...

Day 13- Parting with and Old Friend

... the next day and coming from me that is a huge thing. Over all it was a great weekend and its always good to see an old friend.

Quick Note - I asked Roy about the shower thing and he said Koreans take showers squatting down. So, that’s why they don’t have shower curtains.

... to start travelling further afield on weekends, especially as spring is just around the corner. Over the last couple of years, I have usually quit jobs to go travelling at about this stage, so it was clear what was wrong - I had the traveller's itch! I was also losing my enthusiasm for the TOEFL test that we are constantly teaching, and Monday's lessons were dull, dull, dull! So I made the concious decision to try and liven up proceedings by ...

The Tribe

... who I know intimately don't acknowledge my existence when I see them in public. OR the way they stare at me in a way that would get me hit shot or stabbed if I were to do that in my country. OR the way that everything that is built or made in Korea is the best thing in the world and every idea that I have about the way things are is utter nonsense. But there in lies the conundrum in my mind. Korea is ...

The good, the bad, and the really ugly...

... happened, just that it hurts really bad and I want it to go away. I also got hit in the elbow with a bat and have about a 45 degree range of motion, but that's a different story. **** happens in 3's so I have one more physical injury to endure then I should be good for a couple months or so, finger's crossed. Final thing to talk about. Lynn, Greg, and I went to Daegu this last weekend for some reason. I will never be going back. End of Story. Hope everyone is well, Victoria

First steps

... like home! Deciding that I didnt want too much time on my hands I enrolled in a yoga class which my friends Greta and Jacinta go to. Its a very intense programme, 3 times a week! So I signed my life away for 3 months, and now Im on week 3 of 12! I love it. The yoga is great, it works me out, gives me time to clear my head, integrates me into the Korean culture and give me a chance to hang out with friends! I wont lie, last week was hard ...

Peak

... up, I was approached by one of the residents. He kindly offered me a pear and apple along with a knife with which to cut the fruit. After the rest, we continued along, finally reaching the ridge, which offered some amazing Autumn views at one point and Daegu's urban sprawl at the other. Someone remarked that the city looked like a giant switchboard - a fitting comparison I think. I feel so fortunate to have these mountains as a temporary escape from the city.

... train all the way home. There were people from all over the world there - including Buddhist monks from Tibet, Mongolia, Cambodia, Thailand, India, etc etc. It was brilliant! During the day we got to make loads of things too - like lanterns (i made about 5) and traditional decorated hand-held fans, and traditional Korean prints, and clay structures like lotus lilies. It was a really great experience - and most of the foreigners there had ...
