Following our excitement on Saturday, we were looking for a calmer day. Alison and I planned to walk to the Suzhou Silk Museum. It has received several favorable reviews on TripAdvisor. The others decided to join us. Unfortunately, TripAdvisor didn't note that the museum was closed for renovation. We were directed to another place with silk making demonstrations but that really wasn't what we expected when we set out. After lunch, Alison, Craig and I toured the ...

We got to the station and bough tour tickets without too much ...

Less than a hundred miles to the south west of Shanghai, is the beautiful town of Suzhou that Marco Polo endearingly described as the 'Venice of the East'. The town is renowned for, the grand-canal that is over a thousand years old, the rich culture of music, the scattered gardens and the balmy weather drawing people from ...

... of Suzhou and it was known as the "Paradise on Earth". We stayed at "Ping Jiang Inn" (平江客棧ᦀ 9;which retained its old courtyard structure but added modern convenience of flush toilet and free wifi. It is located in the Ping Jiang old town district and within walking distances of several classic gardens and Suzhou Museum. With small courtyard gardens spread throughout the inn and rooms equipped with traditional ...
