okay so, many many things to update with, it has been a lovely lovely couple of days, not to mention HOOOOOOT. so after my last update i tried to figure out a way to get the a town about 100km from where i was in nha trang in order to see louisa, without me having a phone or persistant internet access this proved to be rather difficult! and eventually after getting very frustrated with not knowing what i was doing i just jumped on the back of a bike and went to the main bus station, i was the...
Nha Trang, Vietnam allanshawIn case you all did not know… its Christmas in July. At least that's the music they played for 6 hours on the bus from Dalat to Nha Trang. The music had a Caribbean sound but was in English. Oh my way here the bus stopped off at a rest stop and I ran into John who I met my first night in Saigon. Anyway, I made it safe and sound to Nha Trang. I’m in a dodgy hotel room. It only costs $6 a night with a fan but it’s pretty disgusting. I’m come to realize too that when I ge...
Nha Trang, Vietnam allieadventuresWe arrived in Nha Trang this morning around 5.30am, after a 10hour overnight train trip - the cabins we had were 'VIP', still small but overall quite clean. We checked into our hotel, which was not orignally where we were going to stay, that is rated 3 star (a step up from our last hotel). Unfortuately it is under construction, so at 7am in the morning the workman were grinding and hammering and OMG the noise!!!! Anyway, the view from the hallway balcony is nothing short of spectacular - so t...
Nha Trang, Vietnam amynshell09Today is a Free Day to do what we like. We decided to go for a walk around the city to find a post office to send some delayed post cards and once again the map does show it is not far from our hotel and yet again we found ourselves walking for ages!!! On our way we were constantly hassaresed by cyclos and motor bike riders . They always just say were you from? you want motor bike or easy rider? and they just keep following you it's quite annoying to be honest. There was also one motor bike r...
Nha Trang, Vietnam anneldavyFound the Dong Phuong 1 hotel for $6, which has a cool reception with furniture nade from tree roots. Brekko with Eve & Elyssa where we arranged to meet for lunch and a trip to the mud pools. Rest of the morning was taken up by a long windy walk (at least it kept the heat down) along the beach to the post office. Vast amount of paper work to send 6Kg for $32 back to the UK. PM - TRip to Thap Ba hot springs for mineral shower / Mud bath (floats more than you'd expect) / 'envigorating; mine...
Nha Trang, Vietnam firstjToday we caught a minivan to Danang, then our train down to Nha Trang. We left at 11am and reach Nha Trang at 10pm. We basically just drank our way through the day, playing lots and lots of card games... Not much more to report!
Nha Trang, Vietnam shozieSo this morning, whilst rushing for our boat trip, I was trying to cut my bread roll and ended up slicing my hand open (not even a cool story to tell)... it was pouring with blood, wouldnt stop and a manager came over, broke open a cigarette and shoved the tobacco into it! After about 10 minutes Kate came to my rescue, rinsed the now congealed blood and tobacco from my hand put iodine drops on it then put gauze on and wrapped it tightly! I was shaking quite a bit, but headed for the boat trip...
Nha Trang, Vietnam shozieToday has been spent pretty much on the beach, its windy and overcast, but nice to hear the see.. about to get ready for our train journey to Ho Chi Minh City tonight.. We get there at 4 or 5 in the morning and then go to the Chu Chi Tunnels (used in the war) Think my hand looks better - not changing the dressing as we stucking both side of the gap together so will let it scab then soak the tape off???? At least dont think I need stitches phew!!!
Nha Trang, Vietnam shozie... to the Gothic cathedral and then to Long Son Pagoda (unfortunately it just looked like any other pagoda to us now) and up 152 steps to a giant seated buddha. Final stop for the day was the Long Thanh gallery, and it was really worth it. A delightful collection of black and white images of Vietnamese life, one striking photo called 'An Afternoon in the Countryside' of a boy running across the backs of buffaloes submerged in water ...
Nha Trang, Vietnam emmaandpaul... out good in the end. Went to watch the GP in bar and got some food. In the evening we all just chilled out and fell asleep. Today me and Carl ended up hiring bicycles and went around Nha Trang. We went to see the cathedral , which was pretty good. then we cycled to see the Po Nagar Towers. Which are a Hindu Temple, again the structure was pretty impressive. So we walked around there and took in the sights. After this we went ...
