Vienna then overnight train to Venice

... br>book hostels for Rome and Florence. After I grabbed lunch and headed
back out since the weather had cleared up. I walked around the ring
road again but this time in the other direction. I went into a store
called Saturn, which is like futureshop back home. I bought another
4gb sd card since I have almost filled up the 2 4gb cards I brought.
After I found some new sites I hadn't seen yet ...

A quick trip to Austria

... across the street from the best ice cream in Vienna - at Zanoni & Zanoni's. I recommend this place highly, a couple of scoops of mango and chocolate orange was the first thing I did after checking in. After this, I took a brisk walk down Mariahilferstrasse, the main shopping street, to check out the vast amount of shopping to be done. Unfortunately, a quick look at the finances suggested this was not to be. I had brought ...

VIENNA AT LAST!!!

... Vienna On Saturday, we went to the Interspar, which is the grocery store. We also we to the H&M and I got a purse and a fleece sweatshirt. It has gotten cool here very quickly. When we first got here it was in the upper 70s, but the last couple of days have been in the lower 60s and cloudy. Then we had another German session on Saturday evening. On Sunday we went to the church in Vienna that is similair to a Church of Christ. They did the service in English ...

take a deep breath, and we're off!!

... m craving the simple, up a mountain style of last year sometimes, despite it's craziness. Only very occasional times though. Its odd being in Vienna but still not having seen or done a lot of what I saw in the guidebooks before I came, I think I'm going to sit down and plan my weekends today so that I make sure I get to everything. That said weekends may turn into optimum nap time, we'll have to see how it pans out. Off to shower now ...

THIRD DAY

... much. We spent a fair amount of time there. By around 13:00 Uhr came around we went to go eat some lunch right around the area. We walked there, the food was okay. Bland but okay. We were done by 15:00 and headed to our next location which was Mozarts house. He lived there during the late 17th century as well. It was said that he lived in many places but the only place conserved was this one. He lived there the ...

We then walked the shopping lanes to the Christmas market were we had warmed mull wine called gluwine to warm us up on the inside, bratwurst hotdogs and had a quick look inside the magnificent Dom. We then said goodbye to this lovely city and made our way by train to Vienna.

... feud in the middle of the city (if you have the chance, try to go to a performance there - I didn't :-(). Stephans Dom, in spite of looking a bit run down (its stones are a kind of limestone that absorbs lots of pollution), is a great eye catcher. And now my favorite, the Post office savings bank by Otto Wagner. Weird as it is, I loved it! And these buildings are only the ones that amazed me most. There's plenty to see in Vienna, especially if you like buildings ...

hallo Österreich!

Ciao Italia und Hallo Österreich! So excited about German speaking countries! A beautiful drive this morning past the Italian Dolarmites and though them as well, there were a few tunnels built right through the middle of a few of them. Once past the Italian border, there was a dramatic change of scenery. Houses were now Austrian style with slanted roofs, different looking mountains covereed with perfectly proportioned pine trees, just like a christmas card without ...

Day 3

... close enough to the woman talking to really hear what she was saying. It was also a little overwhelming and remembering the location or name of anything didn't happen. After the tour, we were all extremely antsy to find wireless internet somewhere. Some of us went to a coffee shop, but the wireless wasn't working. We stayed anyway, and I sat with Stefanie (A.) and savored a fine latte macchiato. Stefanie, Stefanie, Don, and I then walked home. It was still rainy and ...
