    One day to go..

The hardest part of starting a new travel blog is the start.

In every Han for himself I had the

advantage of being on a plane to Beijing with a plateful -ok a spoonful of caviar in front of me, not to mention a harem of happy Dutch flight attendants intent on stuffing me to bursting point with stroopwaffels. This time I have a National Express.

    To Eindhoven.

It's interesting how as a teenager you flock to Amsterdam, by 30 it's Eindhoven,

From York, we took a Cook's tour (James Cook lived in Whitby and served his apprenticeship in Whitby) to Whitby. We loved Whitby so we parked the car for the day and walked to the Abbey, along the river, to the fish and chip shop (Bradley's - almost as good as Barts)and to the beach. After this we headed west and North to Newcastle. We are actually 10 ml west of Newcastle.
Our accommodation is a refurb of an 1878 built stables for a local doctor's house. Very roomy.

We make our way north and end up in Sunderland for the night which is on the coast. It raining and almost blizzard conditions when we arrive and very difficult to find accommodation, Eventually we get some and then rooms had to change because wifi wouldn't work, Enjoyed some nice fish and chips int he new ...

... and spent one night with Rob and Trish in a field behind a pub in Boreham Street. It was an enjoyable evening with good food in the pub but although we had planned to sit out and have another glass of wine before retiring it was so cold we all went to bed.

Then we started our journey north spending 5 nights in Grassington in the Yorkshire Dales, where we met up with Ken and Marilyn on a Caravan Club site. K & M were our first dinner guests in Astrid, ...

    Ben & Jerry's

A travel blog entry by lisaajane on Jun 16, 2014

    ... 50! Score!
Then I went and found a shop I didn’t know existed.
An actual Ben & Jerry’s shop.
Now, British people would be shocked, but I’ve never actually had B&J.
But I tried and I LIKED!!
So I had my icecream, my book and my beach. Set for the afternoon!
I spend a long while putting on sunscreen too (learnt!).
And then, it was time to take the bus back to Belfast and sleep of the heat!
