Port de Soller, Mallorca, Spain zolab... guards with horses and carriages, playing musical instruments and wearing "period costumes". Iberia airlines was far from stellar. Our flight attendant was drunk and smoking cigarettes in the lavatory the entire flight. Bob was thisty and had to beg someone from another isle to get him a glass of water. We are glad we are going to get on the plane for Tel Aviv...maybe another few hours of sleep.
Madrid, Madrid, Spain and Canary Islands ec4stx... Spanish culture. We called Dad and Jess and Dad said Jess still had not found her Easter basket. I laughed and had a little missing America moment. I love it how Dad still hides our Easter baskets. Believe me, it gets harder to find them every year. I swear he will never run out of ideas. My little Easter outfit was a pink shirt, my new black skirt, leggings, and my boots. I felt very European. I slept at the hotel last night ...
Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain justinerenee... Seville our next destination, for which we leave on Monday. Getting the tickets was a n interesting experience as nobody seemed to know about buses to Seville then when we finally got them they were for the wrong day, but eventually using some very questionable Spanish we managed to get them for the right day. For the rest of today we have been chilling in the central plaza and had a drink ina cafe, we have ...
Madrid, Spain tammyjoe... they should all be together in a certain way on a wall not standing alone. There was also a featured exhibit by Patinir which I really enjoyed. I just love looking at how the paintings are set up whether they are open or closed, seeing the expressions often so well capture on the peoples faces....::sigh:: Art is awesome. Well tomorrow is off to the final destination. Tonight we hope to try Tapas or churros or something Rick Steves the God of Eurotravel recommends. Stay well!
Madrid, Spain kbort... and pants with two torn slits on one leg so the leg bottom flapped. At first, he juggled the ball with his feet approximately one thousand times with ease without letting it touch the ground. Then, he dribbled slowly around the plaza, making pedestrians carrying shopping bags yield before his path, occasionally shooting rapid strikes past unsuspecting people towards the plaza's borders or its monument. He never interacted with people ...
Madrid, Spain modernoddyseus... gets too close. The a couple of mounted guys appear with large spears and a heavily quilted horse. Their job is to inflict the first wounds, spearing the bull to rile him up and getting the blood to flow. After that two matadors attempt to pin feathered stakes into the bull's back. He charges and the matador must run around the ...
Madrid, Spain technotrekker... fountains guarded by pagan gods and goddesses, neatly designed bushes, tall towering trees, pompous bridges and gates, struck me as odd to be found in hot, dry Spain whereas France is wet and green. Maybe the effort of trying to keep a garden of French taste alive in this climate was to shade and cool the royal residents from the heat. As I walked through the avenues of trees past the fountains of Venus, Apollo, Bacchus and ...
Aranjuez, Spain zento... any ol' person. When I got here I was very glad I had!! I was tired and had all my bags so it was a good thing to have privacy. I took a taxi to my hostel and the first thing I did was shower. Then I crashed because I had to get up early to catch the first train to Pamplona at 7:15am.
Madrid, Spain mirranda... I spent an hour waiting in that line and then he took 20 seconds to look over my stuff. And then I had to go over to the security line so that I could get into the terminals. There was another 35 minute wait. So, that by the time I was cleared of everything, there was only about 15 minutes before my plane was taking off!!! I ran to the gate and made it in, of course, but I hate being that stressed out. Not to mention the fact that that of course left me with ...
