Donetsk, Ukraine backstrength... would be decided that night. It was one a.m. when I arrived in Novoshaxtinsk, near the Ukrainian border. Except for taxi drivers and policemen, the town was dark and asleep. Snow fell from the sky. The snow was very wet, so that it quickly soaked you. Wet snow and the long walk ahead of me didn't equate to anything good. But, I was confident. My heart was pumping adventure. I went into a convenience store, the only place open where I ...
Dombasa, Ukraine modernoddyseus... hearing we got our things together and took a 2 hour drive to Lugansk to catch a 7:00 P.M. train to Kiev. It was no fun lugging 3 heavy suit cases and several carry-ons over train tracks to get to our train station. I had read about Ukraine trains, and all I read was true. The restrooms were pretty filthy and the rooms hot. The rooms were much smaller than even cruise ship rooms! The ride was bumpy, but I slept well. We arrived in Kiev at 11:00 A.M. the next morning.
Lugansk, Ukraine arnoquon... nice gifts. We gave each kid a gift bag with alot of small gifts like flashlights, bubbles, etc. and one large, more expensive gift. After the kids opened their presents some other people came so we decided to get lunch. We went to the restaurant near the orphanage that has an English menu. After lunch we went back and spent some time with Anastasia. When it turned dark ...
Lugansk, Ukraine arnoquon... store was a big event here and crowds of people came on opening day. We went to an outside market Saturday. Saturday and Sunday are the busiest shopping days here. It was way too crowded at the outside market. People kept bumping into us and the smell was not too nice. Even Lancie didn't enjoy shopping! After the court date on Thur., we will take a train back to Kiev. I'm not thrilled about it because I've read some blogs about the trains here. But ...
Lugansk, Ukraine arnoquon... name for a young princess, Eh? When we returned to the room, I looked in my book of names and discovered Anastasia means "Resurection". How appropriate for our family. "Aeriel" means "Lioness of God". You are quite right, God has a way of presenting us with delightful surprises! Renee, Hi! We've enjoyed reading all our messages from home. In response to your request for sizes, I'll give you this: Anastasia's sizes: Shoes 3 1/2 (34 European), Shirt 10 or Large (girls ...
Lugansk, Ukraine arnoquon... driving. The monastery was beautiful with it's gold domes. It was located at the edge of a beautiful river and the base of a small mountain. When we tried to enter, a guard made Lancie buy a scarf and put it on over her pants. She had to wear it like a skirt. This was a requirement of all women who wanted to enter. There was no entrance fee, but there was also nothing open. We walked around some, and it was very slippery due to ice on ...
Lugansk, Ukraine arnoquon... the kids in the orphanage. Every day we take some kind of treat to the kids in Anastasia's class. They are very grateful and draw us pictures and say "thank you". The kids are all adorable and we wish we could bring home more than one. Ukraine law only allows one child unless they have a sibling. We continue to practice English words and phrases with Anastasia. She is facinated with Color Wonder ...
Lugansk, Ukraine arnoquon... Some people here speak a little English as they teach it in the schools. A salad in a restaurant does not always mean a lettuce and tomato salad as they have many different kinds of salad. Three things some Ukrainian people find interesting about Lancie: She doesn't drink any alcohol. She doesn't eat bread with her meal. She only eats salad for a meal. We showed Anastasia pictures of different foods and she seems to like the vegies and fruits- not so much meat.
Lugansk, Ukraine arnoquon... gt (=gestohlen), obwohl er alles hätte stehlen können was ich besass, da nichts verschlossen mit geöffneten Boxen.
