OK, so we're living on an Olive Farm for a while now.
Bohemian? Yes
Practical? Only when its sunny and only when its not olive picking season.
So what season is it now? Olive picking and its raining.

Welcome to our own little corner of Glastonbury
Battipaglia, Campania, Italy therv... area. Well, since I had been told it existed I went in with more confidence. Indeed. It was the LARGEST seating area of any of the pizza contestants. There was a small area next to the kitchen that was off a small entry way -- hidden from the street. Then upstairs there were at least 4 rooms with simple chairs and tables. Just waiting to be the lucky support of some delicious pizza.

I ordered the Buffala pizza. Mozzarella di Buffala (HEY! Does that mean from Buffalo milk ...
Naples, Campania, Italy josiezim... a few painful smacks the tooth was out. He gestured and used his limited English to explain that he wanted to clean it up and put it back in as a temporary until she got back to NZ. As you will all appreciate it is hard enough to communicate with a NZ dentist with a mouth full of cotton wool rolls let alone one who cannot understand your semi broken English grunts. Her mouth got dryer and dryer during the procedure and he seemed to get more and more frustrated that he ...
Positano, Campania, Italy sewtersojourns... the maniac behind the wheel were enough to make you feel nautious. Sophie's parents had rented a villa in the heard of the village, with amazing patios and views of the sea. From Positano we did a couple of day trips to Capri, a small island about a 35 minute ferry ride of the coast and a trip to Pompeii to the ancient Roman ruins ...
Positano, Campania, Italy sofenjon... advice on where to go in the area. Good location to go north (to Naples and Pompeii) and south to Positano and Almafi (which is a hair raising but spectacular drive). We also took the boat to Capri which is a beautiful island and especially loved the Blue Grotto. First time we ran into some rain and we were at Pompeii for about 2 hours before it started raining .. even ...
Naples, Campania, Italy pathenger... park a smart car. And nobody got parking tickets.

Our first bus tour, on the red bus, began at the Castel Nuovo and headed north to the Museo de Campodimonte passing the Fontana in via Medina, Convitto Nationale (National School in Naples), Basilica de Santa Maria della Sanita and the Church of Madre del Buon Consiglio along the way.

Returning to the bus terminal, we ...
Naples, Campania, Italy ricknelsie... and basil, a big bottle of water and some pastries, and rented a boat for two hours to drive ourselves around the island. There were lots of people trying to convince us that we should take their tour, but we just wanted to get away from the crowds! We got into our 15' fiberglass open boat (it looked like a mini-Boston whaler) and motored around the island, which is basically sheer limestone and sandstone cliffs and volcanic rock. We saw some amazing ...
Positano, Campania, Italy lindalequesne... but with the shutters closed it wasn't bad at all and we quickly got used to it - the advantage of not having to walk 300 or so steps down and back up to an apartment each time we visited the beach, more that compensating for a little night time noise. We decided to have lunch in the other restaurant next to us, La Cambusa, which was delightful. Knowing already that we were staying next door, they greeted us with a complementary glass of prosecco ...
Positano, Campania, Italy chalmersfamily... approached with its colorful homes and small pebbly beach. According to legend Amalfi was founded when the girlfriend of Hercules was buried here. After Rome fell Amalfi was one of the first cities to trade goods - coffee, carpets and paper - between Europe and points east. Its heyday was the 10th and 11th centuries when it was a powerful maritime republic - a trading power with a fleet that controlled this region and rivalled Genoa and Venice. Amalfi minted its own coins and ...
Positano, Amalfi, Ravello, Italy rnriggins... beach! Really not too bad, but just really hot under foot. But so can sand. But you can't run on these rocks, they hurt! But we have hired an umbrella, sun lounches for €7 each... an expense that really needs to be made coz you can't sit on the rocks. But it's good to get a chair & able to completely relax. But you can't take a bad photo here. I've constantly had my camera out & it's just a beautiful place to ...
