Mayweilerhof, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany byron_and_tracy... lease we decide to move on to another option that Tracy's German secretary had told her about - a converted country house from the 19th century. Unfortunately, I forgot to bring my memory card with me today so that I could upload the photos I've taken. Those will come tomorrow of the next day. For now, I have only four photos for you, each taken at our house.

Yesterday morning I baked a homemade blueberry pie (with ...
Mayweilerhof, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany byron_and_tracy... on infinitely upward. It looked genuinely magical, like something out of a Tolkein book. Winding around the low mountain (I would classify it as a 'cerro' in Spanish, since I don't know what to call it in English) we fianally arrived to an enormous old school house that had been converted into an antique store. The tiny town was called Schneeweiderhof and you might have a difficult time locating it on even a detailed map. But thanks to this blog you can see pictures of it ...
Ramstein-Miesenbach, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany byron_and_tracy... differences, but it might be just chronological; we haven't known each other for long. It may take some time to create a bond. My wife introduced us a little over a week ago and cutely skipped off for us to become acquainted. It takes a little convincing to get him to go along with the plans I make on any given day, but he inevitably acquiesces in my decree and comes along. This morning we took a trip together, which I'll write about in short order.
Baumholder, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany byron_and_tracy... able to speak the language: Spanish. Here I am in an unfamiliar culture and often surrounded by an unfamiliar tongue. Fortunately, before negotiating the rainy roads and the waters of burocracy, I had the pleasure of attending 'Rincón de español', or 'Spanish corner', with some Spanish-speaking military spouses here on post. I may write more about Spanish corner at a later date.

To be continued...
Kusel, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany byron_and_tracy... enter the St. Martin Visitor's Center, only to be told there is not a single room for rent in town. We headed to Mikalhammer, the next town over. Same story. Someone literally laughed at us- apparently you need one year advance notice for the wine harvest time. Thanks, Fodors...we almost had to sleep in the Smart Car until a nice tourist office worker found us a room outside Neustadt, a major city on the wine route.

With sleeping ...

They all seemed to be from the same school, and they did not seem to know much English neither did they seem so friendly when I spoke to them in German.

As we were sailing through vineyards in a famous winegrowing area, we shared an excellent glass of German white wine (Riesling) from the Bingen region. Bingen am Rhein, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany woodsfamily... due to the nature of my travels, I was able to Frankfurt, Dexheim (wow, what a place that was, lol!) and I was also able to ride a double decker bus way south ... and eventually into Austria, but that's another story. Once again, I was here due to my job ... this time, the final destination was the Balkans, but before that, we had some work to do in Germany first. This is what ...
Bad Kreuznach, Germany gr8ful_deadbeat... of sea water. After a long and drawn out lunch, where everyone told me about one of the guests, an oldish, very very rich man who was there with his mistress (and everyone new that he had an unknowing wife waiting at home...how absurd?!?!?) we went to a second lunch and afternoon tea at the house of the confirmant. His dad was friendly in showing us his paintings (with english spelling mistakes) and even ...
Bad Kreuznach, Germany seb89... drugs control. Almost... not me of course, because I probably looked a little bit too fluffy for a smuggler... In Frankfurt my dear friend Christine picked me up and we drove to Oberursel, where she was staying with her parents for the xmas holidays. I was so happy to see her again, because the last time was in Bournemouth, where we always met up in the drunkest conditions at ...
