    After a light breakfast we loaded up and set off, destination Saarbrucken in Germany. The plan is to visit and stay the night with Jan's mother before setting off for Amsterdam the next day.

    Had breakfast at Hotel then went up to see Linda and say goodbye to Wolfgang. Jan then drove us into Saarbrucken for the day as he had to spend time with Linda making arrangements for the funeral. Walked around the lovely St Johann Market Place with pretty shops and restaurants and down along the river bank. Jan picked us up and back to our hotel.     ... was open so we gingerly went in and there were 2 lock keepers around and they were ignoring us! We tied up and waited and then the gates shut behind us. There was only 1 place to tie up to on a very small bollard and as we got higher it was no good, but as this was a small lock it didn't matter. The lock keeper then came to see us and John had to sign for our “zapper” for the French automatic locks. The lock itself was very old and had a plaque ...
