Last stop in France

After brekkie it was onto Menton which is a lovely little town just before the Italian border. Menton is a much more down to earth place than its neighbours and more our scene. We found a park right on the beach and went for a wander and took in sum much needed sun. Next stop Italia!!
Not the full monte

Up early as it was a spectacular sunrise - full of pinks and organges. We wanted to hit McWifi before we entered Italy but we did not find one until later in the day in Menton. Before that we drove the coast road through Nice and Monte Carlo, both concrete ...

Gorges Verdon... Route Napoleon

... wine bottle and then we thought they were off on the trail, but no they got in the car and drove on!
At the end of the gorge we joined the road towards Cannes, which was route Napoleon, orginially created by him as a pass through the mountains...very windy. Our destination for the evening was Grasse where we found a good park overlooking the city lights and our first view of the Med.

Bisous!

We were so excited to have another person travelling with us, that our time spent with Diane was mostly fighting over her for her attention and trying to get her to side with one of us. She was definitely a good friend to both of us ( and didnt favor me, which I thought she should have ...

Princess Lesia of Monaco !

... the Grimaldi family. And where Prince Rainier and Grace Kelly joined in marriage in St. Nicholas Cathedral. In the square of Monaco-Ville, the Royal Palace could be found. From here, you could see all the districts of Monaco including Fontevielle, La Condamine and Monte-Carlo. Not to mention the breathtaking view of Port Hercules, more commonly known as the Port of Monte-Carlo! Here you could see the ...

Beside the seaside...

... bags on our backs, we drew the attention of some of our French neighbours who confirmed (surely with incredulity) that, yes, the English were off for a walk in the blazing sun. Actually, first thing in the morning as it was, the temperature was wholly acceptable and we were after all planning to walk towards the sea - mostly downhill! About three miles... we'd think about the return journey when we had to! Although... the other point to consider ...

... he's doing okay. When the family returned we all went into Cagnes to search for a belt for John, and see the town. I found a belt for 5E's in a ladies shop at the corner near the car, then off to Nice for dinner. We visited the Musee d'ar Naif (museum of the naive) it was lovely and manageable as far as museums go. It was in an old mansion up the hill from town. We ate dinner across from the beach and bought some gifts for Riley.

Day 26 - Monaco

Had a good day here. I managed to get into the Casino. Three bets of 10 euro on the Roulette, all on red - all winners, Geez I'm a Shark. Thanks for Dinner. Monte Carlo is a pretty crazy place, 10 Million dollar Motor yachts everywhere, Ferraris, and blokes dropping 500 Euro notes on Red and walking to the 3 other tables to do the same. All for bloody show though. As luck would have it there was some fireworks competition finishing on the night we where there and ...

Monte Carlo

... We went around a couple of times trying to find the motorway to Genova (which they spell Genes). Monaco is only about 3 kilometers square and has a population of around 30,000 and its residents don't pay any income tax. After this hot day with a few decent walks we were all pretty tired by 7pm, but we feel we are a bit behind in our distance traveled, so we decided to push on past Genova on the motorway and bed down ...
