... veg... Most of them looked like the dodgy kidnappers from Taken 2 :) After 50+ kms of cycling we finally reach Linz, the capital of upper Austria. It is after 7pm and the river banks are still packed with groups of bare chested bocce players, many friends and couples relaxing and tanning beside the Danube. Some are swimming/drowning against the strong current, others are jogging, cycling, listening to music, reading.. One lady is just sitting by the river with ...

... villages and admired locals going about their simple lives. Schlogen is to the people of Linz what Rotto is to Perth-ites. It is so picturesque.. So green, so tranquil. Our first night in our tent and a thunderstorm finds us :) we weren't sure if our tent was waterproof- thank goodness it is! We camped beside a little lake which sounded like it was home to Austria's entire duck population! Em ...

It's late afternoon and I've just woken from a deep 15 minute snooze - stiff neck, pins and needles hands, sore knees and bottom. The last two due to a day of cycling, albeit with electric assistance.

... cyclists. I plan on doing more when I get home! There's quite a few older people cycling and a number of them do have the electric bikes. I so wish I'd booked one. Tonight I asked Leslie if there were any left but there's only high ones so no good for me. Damn! It was a great day but I've decided not to cycle the route tomorrow. Another 42kms consecutively is too much, specially for my poor ...

... city was badly bombed and had to be rebuilt. The bus tour took us around the ring road and to a hill just on the outside of the old city fortifications. On the way we could clearly see the steel works , we passed beautiful houses both old and new and a small but lovely church that is the oldest one in Linz dating back to the 8 th century. The lookout gave sweeping views of the Danube the city and to the other side which has another hill with a twin spire church. The city ...
