2 hours to catch flight!

... spent too much time investigating. Aside from a few months of an Introductory German course that I failed and dropped, I certainly have no 1st hand experience with their culture.
Planning, plotting, and practicing is how I will accomplish this irresponsible feat of travel and confusion.
Godspeed and good luck I've wished myself well in advance.
Who knows?
Maybe I'll never even make it out of Frankfurt...

... to see the exhibit inside. Tracy was tired and cranky, and I felt I needed to be outdoors in the fresh (cold) air. Tracy waited in the car for DeAnna and Andrew, reading her Kendle, while I stolled around the block, taking a few photos.

After a while, we all met back at Tracy’s Pathfinder and went in search of something to eat. Our first try was a Chinese restaurant. Since most places, especially smaller businesses, don’t accept credit cards ...

The first day of my 2nd escape

... Well here's the story:

After having met a bunch of design students "by chance" (still don't believe in chance though ;) at a party,

I reckon this trip will help me to make some awesome pictures.

Stopover

It was sooooo cold in Frankfurt, we didn't want to spend much time here since we had no winter clothing. WE got in late, went to our hotel, then back to the airport to get our flight to Bangkok moved up. We though it would be at 8 that night, but they managed to get us on the next flight out, which was pretty much within the hour. Woohooo! I also kept speaking Italian in Germany... so confused with all the languages.

... their walls, not to mention some German candies.

Unfortunately it was time to call it a trip, so we all piled in the car and Flo kindly drove us home on the ultra-efficient Autobahn where nobody drives slowly in the left lane.

Auf wiedersehen! It was a great trip!

... to Wroclaw. We got kakked on again by the ticketing tannie who blatantly refused to help us - caught a few zzzzzzz's at the train station and then finally, after asking some polish kids, caught the right train back to Wroclaw. Ruan orchestrated an amazing refund feat at the ticketing desk (yay for refunds) and we headed back into the old town to get some well deserved grub. They were setting things up for a huge concert in the town square and we were treated to a live soundcheck ...

... entry of my Germany journal. Thanks so much to everyone who read along and experienced it with me. A special thanks to Aunty Lorraine for all her comments. It was lovely to hear from you.
Now you all have to come and see me. A great place to do it would be next week when I am performing in the show "Backbeat". Ask me for details. Just don't send me a text cos I don't have a mobile at the mo.

Signing off for the last time. Tschuss, aufwiedersehen!

Journey to Frankfurt

... the line before I could get my ticket and place number. I have to admit that this was a little frustrating, just because I was not expecting to have to check my bag, and also not expecting to have to pay for it. Never the less, I checked the bag and then went through security. As we were going through security we met a girl who we were studying with in Vienna who is from Austin, Texas. She was flying on our same flight to Frankfurt, and then continuing onto London. It was fun ...

Frankfurt!

... and while we were in line, a girl behind us asked if she could ride on our ticket (we bought a group ticket, because it's cheaper, and we are officially a group at two...so, Juliana paid us 5 euro for one way to Frankfurt, and we ended up with round trip tickets for 10 euro!) We went to Hauptwache, the station for the pedestrian streets/mall area...the mall was interesting, as it's designed in a ...

Frankfurt by Night

... you’d never do in the US, where freeways scream right over and around the centers of towns, frequently chopping up neighborhoods in the process. In Europe they stop at the edges, strictly a point-to-point sprint. You still have to wind your way through the cities, usually.
