... in the picnic area by the pool to eat. At 2pm we had to attend a brief for the Frasers Island trip tomorrow which included a safety DVD, a chat with the local guide and filling in forms!! It went on for a couple of hours but at least we feel prepared for what lies ahead in the next few days! We found what we thought was a good place on the beach to set up camp, We didn’t
realize we could not get washed or showered for 4 days unless we went into the

... to Lake Wabby, which our guide told us was a half hour walk over not much sand, but was in fact exactly 44 minutes each way, with a massive sand dune at the end (not happy). However it was of course worth the walk, for a swim in another warm fresh water lake, enclosed by sand dunes and rainforest, so it was a great way to finish the trip. ... was pretty surreal though, being face to face with a massive gorilla whilst we waited for a sandwich! To cut a long story short, the 5 1/2 hrs journey ended up taking us 8hrs due to a succession of roadworks and we missed our briefing at the hostel.
