    Never Again!

We spent four nights at this hotel in August 2003. The room is fairly spacious and it is right on the beach. However, the smell of the hotel was horrible. The place is very rundown and desperately needs a paint job. One of the nights that we stayed there, there was a thunderstorm.

The hotel was plunged into darkness for over eight hours. It was the only hotel on the block that experienced a black-out as a result of the rain. The worst part of the whole ordeal is that they refused to give us any mone back for that night. In fact, they had flashlights only at the front desk and refused to give guests any kind of assistance. The help was no help - and insisted that only the manager had the power to make these decisions - of course the "manager" was not available.

Please do not waste your time and money going to this dump. Obviously, they have no respect and value for customers.

    Great family vacation hotel

the guest services where outstanding, couldnt ask for better service, rooms are clean and spacious. this is an older hotel that has been updated very nicely. security in the evening was a bit over-zealous, but better than none at all. i have stayed here every year over the past 5 years and have no regrets.

    Nice place..

Spent my vacation there last yr..and just got back last month from staying there again. They have made some inprovements since we stayed last summer..more expensive..but very clean. We always get a room with a ocean veiw. and it is well worth the money if you go for the scenery.

Eventho we don't have kids, it seems very kid freindly. We love the publix grocery across the has everthing..and try the dollar store right next door it's great..we bought silver ware there last yr.

to use on our trip..and we're still using it!

The only complaint we have is that the air-conditoning is VERY noisey and it's hard to hear the TV..which does not have a lot of channels.

Don't make a online reservation..don't make any! We made telephone reservations last yr..and when they say 4 PM check in they mean it! there at 1pm and had to wait that long, not a minute eary did we get our room! This yr. we just walked in at reservations, and bang!..we got a room right away..and the one we requested!..Can't promise you that you'll luck out like that..but that is the only way will do it from now on.

    Unhappy Past Customer

Made reservations three months (90 days) in advance and reservations were not honored. requested and had e mail confirmation for four rooms beach front, not beach view, not gulf view but beach front connecting rooms. the rooms were on the second floor and only two of the four were connected. we had several young children and did not want to be above the ground floor. The rooms were dirty, the carpets were filthy, they turned the bottoms of our feet black, the toilet tank was only half filled and took three flushed to discard solid waste, the air contioning ducts were 80% clogged with dust, the ice machine did not work, the gate from the parking lot to the beach was locked. the desk personal were unusually rude aruguementative and unprofesional. We will not book there again and do not reccoment the place.

    Rudness Abounds, you'll be sorry

The only positive aspects of my family's stay, was that we were together and that we were at a nice beach. Beyond that, we discovered quickly that the web-site was grossly inaccurate, the reservations were incorrect, most of the staff was barbarously insolent, the rooms were not properly maintained, and the property as a whole stank and was in need of a health dept. visit. What they tell you is a kitchenette, is merely a small fridge, a microwave and a coffee maker. There is no stove, plates, forks, sink, etc. Even after planning 5 months in advance and communicating several times with an employee on the phone to coordinate the internet info. regarding what we were looking for and how to book it correctly, --They STILL got the reservations wrong! To add insult to injury, rather than handling it courteously and professionally, the staff was extremely rude and even confrontational. No effort was made to smooth over their error. In fact, they denied having even made any error whatsoever. We had 4 rooms booked for a family reunion. Needless to say, the indignant and insensitive behavior of the staff put a stressful overtone on what would have otherwise been a wonderful event. During our brief moments at the main desk, we encountered several other very distressed guests. The hotel restaurant attempted to charge another guest for plastic utensils! Yet another complained of the stench and roach problem. Overall the stay was miserable. We could have overlooked allot had there been a shred of professionalism or decency from the staff. However the booking mistake, the staff's disrespect and the overall maintenance issues are serious cause for concern when considering this "hotel" on St. Pete Beach.

    Cant wait to visit again

family enjoyed this resort very much, staff extremly freindly, rooms clean, many water activities to choose from are situated right on the waterfront at this resort. i would stay again, pool and restaurant are good and reasonable in price. live music in weekends, but not too loud. i would recommend a room with a balcony because of its beautiful view of the ocean. beach was clean and inviting, grocery store within walking distance, many, many restaurants along this strip............

Internet reservations only in Feb. 03

When we called the price per night was different than the internet prices. So we had to reserve the room that way instead of over the phone. Fine, but when we got there they lost our reservation/price. So, why couldn't we just reserve the room with the original internet special over the phone it the first place? They were also less than friendly. The room was a little worn chipped paint and dust for example. Not much air circulation. Place seemed a little worn.

    Mold & Mildew live here!

This hotel might be a good choice for Spring Breakers who are looking for little more than a place to keep their beer (sort of) cold and where they can pass out.

For adults who enjoy any sobriety, I'd steer clear of this filthy, run-down property.

The hallways smell like mold. The room has visible signs of mold. Appliances don't work. Beds are broken. Linen's are stained and tattered. Overall cleanliness was unacceptable.

The only thing that this hotel has going for it is a decent pool and a nice view of the ocean. Oh, and the reservation staff is friendly over the phone.

Don't let that fool you. Management on-duty is rude and unaware of even the most basic customer service skills. (Follow-up and under no circumstances are you to snap at the "guests"!)

If you're looking for a relaxing getaway, this is NOT the place. We felt terribly uneasy and dirty the entire visit. (Fortunately, only 2 days!) I took a shower as soon as I got home!

    Nasty and Expensive

I found the Dolphin Beach Resort on the internet and it looked great in the pictures. Once I arrived it was clearly not what weexpected. Everything is quite worn out. The first room we were given was nasty, and had rusty appliances. The carpet was very worn and dirty looking. My wife refused to stay in the room even one night. We went back to the front desk and requested another room. This second room was even worse than the first one. It didn't appear to have been cleaned at all, and the last guest was a pig. The toilet had been used, but not flushed as well. Even though it was 10pm and I had already paid for the room, we left and went looking for a better place. We finally settled for the night in a Howard Johnson's a few blocks to the north. The next

day we discoverd a fantastic place "The Gulfstrand Resort" right next door to the Dolphin Beach. It was actually cheaper and was a full condo with a great view, private parking, living room, full kitchen, two full baths, and a full bedroom, and a private patio.

    Family Accomadation on the Beach

We have stayed at Dolphin Beach twice now over the past 5 years. Always found it a pleasant place to stay. Staff were very friendly and helpful.Excellent bar facilities although in my opinion the restaurant wasn`t quite up to scratch (a lot of things on the menu were not available). A great place to stay for families with 1/2 young children.

... humid) and we were on the way to Destin which was halfway between Clearwater and New Orleans. It was a 6 hour drive so I wasn't particularly looking forward to it... Clearwater was a great stop, it was fun having the dog and good company in the apartment and the beach was ok. It probably was a bit too touristy for me. A lot of billboards and signs and American chavs possibly. The sea was lovely but the apartment made up for it and at least we got to visit the restaurant ...

... had to be tactful to our faces but we were overwhelmed with the universal good will and positive feeling about America at virtually every stop.  I found this surprising as my current state of mind regarding USA is hardly positive (especially after realizing how much tax money we spend on feeding John Kerry and of course that he tried to ruin my shoes). We got a real sense of almost yearning from the various Europeans we encountered - for our lifestyle, for our (in their minds) ...

Yes, we had been there long enough to hang out on the dock and shoot the breeze just like the locals. Speaking of the locals, they were the nicest people. The woman who manages C Quarters was incredibly friendly and helpful. One of the marina employees, a prince of a fellow, gave us all some packages of deer meat before we departed, a ...

Got our passes for the Spa for the duration. only thing they were missing in the Spa was the heated stone loungers, but we survived without them.

Our sailaway was right on time, and we headed towards blue water.
