      ... from our apartment we have a great beach, nice for swimming. The water is admittedly cool by Muscat standards but even I have had a good long swim. The area is very nice, good beaches, lots of restaurants and bars but obviously aimed a families rather than the 'young' crowd. Interestingly lots of Bulgarian and Rumanian cars here and I would agree a better choice than the Black Sea. The prices are 'European' though and twice as much as we paid in ...

      ... Russian and Arabic". I spoke Arabic in Turkey and Russian in Bulgaria, it was good for shopping.
      Bulgaria has beautiful countryside but I found the towns depressing, all those rotting concrete blocks of apartments and every pavement broken and derelict. The government must be both corrupt and incompetent and it's a tough burden for the population.       ... outside pool, listening to the rain’s soft murmur..The rain stopped later in the afternoon so we decided to take a short stroll to the nearby park.
