      Dolomites to Paris

... fries(fancy style) and Ash had spaghetti bolognaise. The dishes were expensive, mine costing about $30 and Ash's costing $25 but what shocked us even more was the €6 each bottle of coke we had with it. That's $18 for two bottle of coke! And no the bottles weren't gold! And no there was no alcohol in the drink either. Massive rip off! Luckily the food was good otherwise I'd have been really spewing! Our last night in Europe. We are looking forward to the comforts of home ...

      The Dolomites Day 2

A travel blog entry by jtate on Jan 20, 2015

... We packed our suitcase ready for the journey home then went downstairs for a beer at the bar. In Italy they give you tapas like potato chips, bruschetta, sandwiches or olives etc. when you order a beer, even a small. It's a good idea! If we had this in Perth we wouldn't have so much drunken behaviour because people always have food in their stomach. We went to the restaurant and had another great 4 course meal even if we couldn't finish each course because they were so ...

      The Dolomites

A travel blog entry by jtate on Jan 19, 2015

Today was our first day on the slopes. We had breakfast and went downstairs to the ski hire shop below the reception of the hotel. They had said in an email that they had clothes for hire but when we got there it was extremely limited. There were two big one piece snow suits, some massive snow pants, a few extra large jackets and that was about it. They also looked like they had come out of the 90s. I was sure it was just lost property that ...

      Venice to the Dolomites

A travel blog entry by jtate on Jan 18, 2015

Today we left the island of Venice and boarded a bus to the Dolomites. After napping on and off we came into view of the huge mountains. They were big and rocky with snow caps. I was beginning to get very excited for the snow!! The two hour bus ride came to an end and we arrived in the snowy town of Cortina. I had to find the ski office to pick up our ski passes before the next bus arrived to take use to our ...

... the big monuments in the centre of the city I ventured a little bit further to the Tridente area. This was a slice of paradise and I enjoyed all it had to offer including: - the Spanish steps and at the base the Barcaccia fountain designed by Bernini's father. This was still running on the ancient Roman aqueducts - Piazza Del Popolo which houses a huge Egyptian Oblisk stolen by the Romans - it's one of the last 20 surviving in the world - Church of Santa Maria del ...
