... me, this is a sad castle because it had such great potential to be perfect for its purpose and yet never got to prove itself.
It is known as the history teacher's fantasy castle with its 13th century classic proportions and perfect symmetry - sigh!

An aside: We had forgotten how strong and dedicated the Welsh people are to their own Welsh language. Here, most signs are in English and Welsh with Welsh being first. You hear ...

Some days, the public transport system is not all that user=friendly. Luckily, this is the exception, rather than the rule. Today, to move to Wales, we were scheduled to take 3 trains and a bus.

A bit tired in the morning, our early waking meant we got an early start on our drive further North, to Conwy (near Bangor) to see the castle. Though we stopped briefly to view another tower on the way, we largely made a ...

... and sheep (which keep their tails over here!) This is where Wills and Kate were stationed until recently, and it certainly is quite remote from the Palace and London. We first found a small town with an absurdly long name, and found the railway station so that we could get a pic of the town sign. Then we visited the town of Beaumaris (the largest of Edward's fairytale castles is here) and had a walk along the seafront ...
