Fri 24th: From Ljubljana looked around Brejz before arriving at our apartment at Zasip near Bled in the afternoon. Went for a drive then walk along the lake having fun photographing swans and ducks then popped in at tourist info place. Wine and home-cooked meal and shared a kremsnita for ...

... was reminded it was Sunday and nothing let alone the post office was open. Which was maybe a good thing as I window shopped through old town and saw way too many things I liked. Day one went well I feel!

Hangover-free somehow (all will be revealed), my Irish pal and I ventured to the bus station where we had THE BEST coffee ever (for bloody €1.40 no less, too) whilst waiting for my bus. 1 hour 20, €6 and a lot of confusion later ("This stop??" "No, England! Sit!"), I arrived in Bled. It's North West of ...

... of the oldest settlements in Slovenia, a picture-perfect medieval town. It's as though every building, bridge and alleyway has a story to tell. Dominating the landscape is the Loka castle built before 1202. We parked at the Tourist Centre and walked into town crossing a bridge over the Polijanska Sora river. Most of the buildings in the Town centre are late 15th century, as an earthquake in 1511 destroyed most of the town. We wandered around for a while, had a coffee at the famous ...
