Today we visited some fabulous Roman ruins at Conimbriga with great mosaics. Then it was off to a monument under UNESCO World Heritage protection, the Abbey of the Gothic Manueline "Mosteiro de Santa Maria de Vitoria" in Batalha. We finished the day with a visit to Fatima, the Catholic pilgrimage village where Our Lady appeared to 3 shepherd children in 1917. It was awful! Huge with ghastly tacky souvenir shops.
