Flew Liverpool to Lisbon this morning and picked up a rental car to drive north to Coimbra. The car has a shocking gear box but goes ok. Had torrential rain and hail within 20 mins but drove out of it and turned off to revisit Nazare. I had been here in 1971 and remembered a small seaside fishing village with dozens of fragile high bowed fishing boats lining the beach ready to brave the fierce Atlantic. This time a gentle sea and only 3 boats on the beach left as mementos ...

Treixsedo station on the Ecopista do Dao to Villa Boa, Mortagua 18 miles I left the comfort of my cosy hammock at 8am and made some tea and found some biscuits. I then returned to the comfy hammock for another hour. Having eaten all my biscuits and used my last tea bag, I got up and packed up the camp and was back on my bike by ten o'clock.
