... buildings are locked. Still there are people along the walkways, in the restaurants along the river and on the bridge. It feels good to get out into the sun and walk. I just wish Allen could go along. I found an inexpensive Pastelaria that makes sandwiches to "Take Away" which is nice for lunch. Dinner is a problem so we just eat at the hotel. ... not to go to Evora, 3 hours away but to stay in Coimbra. We transfer to the Ibis Hotel which is modern, has better beds, better parking, Internet in the room, English speaking TV and a small restaurant. It doesn't have the charm of the Astoria but is much more practical. It is raining hard and should continue all day so we don't mind staying in a bit. We will stay here another 4 nights. On one side is the modern square of fascist architecture and inside is the traditional baroque Manueline architecture.
