... not to go to Evora, 3 hours away but to stay in Coimbra. We transfer to the Ibis Hotel which is modern, has better beds, better parking, Internet in the room, English speaking TV and a small restaurant. It doesn't have the charm of the Astoria but is much more practical. It is raining hard and should continue all day so we don't mind staying in a bit. We will stay here another 4 nights. The 3rd building is the Ceremonial Hall. Originally it was the Throne Hall. Once the hall of royal business it is now where the University holds most of its official ceremonies including the investiture of the rector and the formal opening of the Academic year. ... hotel on the River in a very nice part of town. We even have a lanai with a Juliette balcony to the river and since it’s off season it’s only 44 euros a night!
