Since my mom side leaves in Istanbul, every summer we go nowhere but istanbul (12 hours from mersin) to visit my cousins, aunts and my dear grand mother. Opposed to hear, the bus transportation in Turkey is comfortable and cheaper than air wave. And if not istanbul than my mom took us to Ankara. Ahhh Ankara, I definitely liked it more than Istanbul and feel more myself. Istanbul is too big, it is always hard to go from one place to another. One day I should be there as a tourist.
